Sorry, all. Continue your discussion here.
Well, in the interests of at least keeping the conversation going, I’d like to talk a little strategy. Without in any way trying to tell power roles what to do, I want to ask Rapier about his take on the relative value of our power roles.
You suggested to AH that she was more valuable than TL. Why do you think so? I’d have said that TL, who can protect and (effectively) investigate, is more valuable than AH, who can only protect.
I’m out the door in about an hour, this’ll be my last post until next Sunday, probably.
TL doesn’t protect, she blocks (is that what they’re calling that these days?). Certainly useful, considering that as long as she’s blocking Brewha, the scum can’t/won’t kill, but her power relies on knowing who to block. AH can protect a key role without knowing who the scum is, so I’d place her value to Town slightly higher than TL.
Thats my take, anyway.
This is one of those issues that calls for a maths post. Which I’m not going to make. But the choice is between:
AH’s greater chance of success in selecting between two power roles (self +TL) to protect with the reward being No Kill
vs
TLs lesser chance of success in choosing between 6 unconfirmed (assuming we don’t all know brewha is scum) with the reward being No Kill + Outed scum.
That’s obviously a simplification which ignores for example the ability of the scum to bluff the role-blocker. But I think the fact that AH will always have to guess between self-protecting and at least one other power role make her a bit weaker than you’re suggesting.
Now, can anyone think of a way in which we can talk about our secondary suspects without muddying the waters?
Here’s a crazy thought. I just wanna see if anyone will indulge me in this. How about we not lynch me today? - just for fun.
Tonight, TL can block me again, but this time I’d ask the Doc to not protect anyone.
I’m willing to be that the scum target was protected last night - and that is the reason for the non night kill.
If tonight, I’m blocked and a NK happens anyway - wouldn’t that prove me to not be scum?
Yeah, it’d be easier to just lynch me. That would prove the same thing. But, my death today is not going to win the game for the town. I’d rather go after someone esle.
Anyone willing to consider this option?
One of the last things a townie can do for the sake of town is to die gracefully when we’re in the endgame.
Unless you open that magic bag of your other powers and it turns out you can do something highly useful with the one deadite remaining, I think you’re just as good a target as any unconfirmed at this point.
Vote is staying on brewha.
Magic bag? You call not revealing the rest of my powers a magic bag? I didn’t think it was that much of a concern. My magic bag is that I can, in fact, vanquish undead deadites. The problem is that I can either vanquish deadites or seek santcuary. It’s one or the other. If I vanquish deadites, I’m open to being night-killed. The only reason I used the term ‘magic bag’ last night was that I know townies hate magic bags and I figured it would up my lynchability enough that scum would leave me alone.
So, since there’s no reason to worry about getting NK’d - since I likely won’t make it through today, here’s the rest of my PM:
Oh, and BTW, I am not the only person who can (or perhaps could) kill the undead deadites. I had no hand in getting rid of the first one.
Nice “catch” there.
So, up until the point where we decided you were scum, what was your plan for using your powers?
My plan was to wait until there was 5 undead deadites, and someone on the chopping block that I was sure was not scum.
Seeing as how, Millit was on the chopping block when the number first hit 5, I didn’t use my power. But, the first person whom I knew was not scum after the number hit 5 was me.
This:
looks different from this:
Interesting…why didn’t you claim earlier when we were asking for the 1/5ized vanquisher to claim? You could have gotten the scum to waste a nightkill.
What? You would have taken me at my word? No, you would have label me a heretic until I proved that I could do what I said I could. At that point, I would have likely been #1 on the scum’s night kill list, and there would have been plenty of time for scum to amass another 5 undead deadites.
I had thought about it, I just thought better of it.
You know, this actually wouldn’t be a bad thing if it weren’t for the following 2 things:
- Total lost is out of town again, I think, and might not get in to block you.
- We have no other reasonable lynch target, and you haven’t suggested one.
- It’s time to end this game.
- I can’t count.
- Anyone can claim this defense. Basically, “Don’t lynch me, just block me and see if anyone dies.” Why should we give you this benefit?
(snipped)
So basically you’re saying you could have vanquished 13 deadites during the course of the game but didn’t? The witnessing power you can vanquish 2 twice and the Baptism 3, three times. Even if I’m misunderstanding and it’s 5 altogether (one each time) that’s one hell of a power. It also doesn’t say how you find the deadite which I find curious. Are you supposed to guess or is it a certaintly?
Either way I don’t believe you’d have been given a power that strong, and if you were then dammit you deserve to be lynched for not using it.
If you had claimed the ability to vanquish 1/5ized deadites, we probably would have taken you at your word if you had correctly predicted a vanquishing. In fact, at that point, I doubt that we would have pressured you to fullclaim.
Also, another question–why is it that the second and third powers have the vanquishing as the benefit, but the last has it as the cost?
Why are we discussing him again? He’s obviously lying. He posted two different role PMs! Hell, look at the first power he supposedly had. It’s different both times. At this point he’s a confirmed liar, and I don’t see any benefit in continuing to try and get answers from such a person.
I would suggest we start discussing other people to lynch just in case, but after the way the PM line/no line situation almost went down Yesterday, we might be better off just waiting til such time as it is actually required.
Oh and just in case it didn’t carry over,
Vote Brewha
I can’t see why votes wouldn’t carry over, but hey:
