As I’ve mentioned in passing before, I have been a member of Christian Forums for five years now. Over the last two days, my computer automatically downloaded and installed the upgrade to Firefox 3.0.9. Since that upgrade:
I can access CF by the pre-esxisting bookmark, which is to my User CP listing subscribed threads.
I can sometimes but not always get the main menu listing of CF forums (equivalent of the page that lists GQ, MPSIMS, etc. here)
I cannot open any of the forums or threads. What I get is “400 Bad Request /
nginx/0.6.35”
When I wised up and looked at page info on that list, it informed me that the site does not encrypt, and that others can see what I send. (Since what I send is my posts, this is hardly an issue.)
I can access CF using MSIE, though I hate using that program for doeznes of good reasons, including security against viruses.
I cannot find any way to convince Firefox that I actually do want to access CF and navigate around that site. Any experiences in coping with this? Any clues as to what I should do?
Some sites block Firefox automatically to prevent people from viewing their pages while using AdBlock, but you said it’s only been happening since you upgraded…
Got the answer to this from a Firefox user on their help site. I’m documenting it here so that anyone with the same sort of problem will know what to do:
Clear the Cache and Delete the Cookies from site(s) that cause problems:
Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): “Clear Now”
Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: “Show Cookies”
On the latter, for obvious reasons, you only remove the cookies from the site(s) causing problems.
