Outlook 2007 help? Profile and MS Exchange problems

I am unable to open Outlook 2007. I get the error message: The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook much be online or connected to complete this action. Here is the background/genesis of this problem:

Last week, I was unable to send email. I could receive. I have two profiles in my Outlook, one is an MS Exchange profile, the other is a pop3 profile.

When I checked the send/receive status I got an error message that an object could not be found. Microsoft.com told me to re-create my profile. So, I followed it’s directions after confirming the MS Exchange server name and the pop3 incoming and outgoing mailboxes so I could replicate what I already had.

I re-created the profiles, but could still not send email (via either account). Stupidly, I rebooted my computer and now… I can’t open Outlook at all.

Thoughts?

ETA: My internet connection is fine. I’ve been accessing both of my email accounts via webmail. I am able to send and receive via webmail with no problems.

Try removing and adding (or repairing) your exchange acount from Control Panel | Mail | Email Accounts, without doing it from Outlook.

That’s what I did. I wasn’t clear on that.

What is the error when starting? Try deleting all profiles in control panel and then start outlook.

Why would you need to specify POP3 and SMTP servers? Exchange uses neither when communicating with Outlook.

Because my second email account is not an Exchange account.

I will try this when I get in to work tomorrow.

Stepping back in briefly to say this problem is resolved and I appreciate your help.
