After some wailing and gnashing of teeth, I have a son. He was six days late, but since I never seem to be able to meet deadlines, I suppose I cannot blame him.
At least he is good looking.

My grandfather, whom I admired greatly, died in May. His name was Burton, and we wanted to honor him by choosing a name for our son that began with the letter B. He was a pretty well-known patron of poets and loved the Romantics best of all. His favorite poet was actually Blake, but we just preferred the name Byron. 
Our son’s middle name is Shigeru, after my wife’s also beloved grandmother Sonoe who died in March.
It’s been a rough year, so a new baby is especially welcome news for both of our families.
