Hopefully you have all received an email or PM containing the location of the Google doc contact spreadsheet including where to send orders, how to contact the other players, and a couple links with maps and rules for Diplomacy in general and the Modern variant in particular.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Our first turn - Spring 1995 - will be due 10 PM PDT on May 10th (that’s 1 AM, May 11th, EDT or 6 AM, May 11th GMT or 8 AM, May 11th SAST)
This thread is for public press and posting orders results. There will be a separate thread for non-participant kibitzers once the first turn comes in.

Here is a map: https://docs.google.com/document/d/19XmjQLnFZfjU_kuYv36_TERs-Qhx6SLGmBcKnOxb2kQ/edit?hl=en&authkey=COahrskG

This map has a couple canals:
Fleets can move through canals in Hamburg, Cairo, Rostov, and Volga.
Also Iran has a north coast and a south coast. Fleets cannot move directly from one to the other.

Perhaps I should have said “any country other than Russia” in my preferences…

I have not.

Me neither.

I sent a PM due to “spreadsheet” issues.

I got it - the PDF was illegible (it didn’t turn your URLs into hyperlinks), and the spreadsheet wouldn’t open online, but it downloaded OK, so I’m good to go…

:o

OK. Note to self: Don’t use PDFs through Google Docs.

I’ll send everyone the Excel file as an email attachment. If you need it in a format other than excel, let me know. Sorry about the bumpy start. I’ll get the kinks ironed out here. :smack:

OK. Email sent (and PM to etv78)

Emails and PMs all sent.

I thought I’d make the map bigger so the abbreviations are easier to read: https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B7wP5inGPgNVNDVkOTdmYTAtMGUzNS00ZTI3LTk5ODUtOWRlMTllYTU4MjI3&hl=en

Moldova = Mol still hard to read because of an artifact in converting to a .jpg

If I haven’t sent anything yet, I’ll be doing so within the next 24 hours-the timing of the game start coincided with the busiest work day of the week for me, and I’m pretty spent tonight.

Could you please send a group email to everyone that includes an attached large map, list of country names/abbreviations and players’ SDMB usernames, email addresses and country assignments. In the past email has been the best way to send adjudications to the entire group to ensure everyone has the same information.

If you’ve already sent it I haven’t received it.

Public press announcement from Turkey!

Good luck, everyone! May the most honorable warrior win! Failing that, may I at least last longer than Grim.

Any chance it’s in your spam box?

I sent one email before starting the thread, and a second one today with an Excel attachment.

Yup, was in spam. We’re all set.

I checked my spam box. I’ve received the second email but I’m missing the first (with the list of country names/abbreviations/army-fleet production, etc). Please send it again (or, if anyone else is reading this, send me your copy?)? Thanks!

Yes, I got the contacts but I also don’t have the country names.

:rolleyes::wink:

The province names are on the map here: diplom.org

jDip only allows me to produce a map with abbreviations. I can extract the names from the .xml file to make a list - there doesn’t seem to be a comprehensive one online. I won’t be able to extract the names until this afternoon/evening at the earliest. Perhaps until then reference to the link above or abbreviations will be good enough for negotiations?

But it would be helpful to have a list of which regions produce what type of army. For example, I can’t find anything that tells me what type of army Saudi Arabia produces.
