After Bernadette receives a Ph.D, the guys take advantage of degrading Howard for being the only non-doctor in their group. Meanwhile, Raj becomes Sheldon’s new roommate.
Are you serious?
What a way to end a season.
Best line…‘Really? Really? You still can’t talk to me?’
I agree with both posters above me.
So the plot is just aiming to break up the friendship circle? And how is this supposed to make me want to watch this comedy
worst episode ever.
I loved Penny and Raj having a nice conversation together - I was startled at first, then I realized Raj had already had a sip of wine.
ETA: After reading the spoiler, I take it things…change.
Oh boy.
What was the meaning of Sheldon’s shirt?
Great episode. Really puts things into motion for next season. And Penny looks hawt with sexy guilty bed-head.
The green shirt?
That was a Green Lantern logo. He’s worn it quite a few times.
And the 73 shirt explanation is here.
That makes more sense. I didn’t remember what shirts he was wearing and Googled some images from the show and the Green Lantern shirt was the first picture to come up with Sheldon in it. It seemed odd for someone to ask about it only because he’s worn it so many times that even someone like myself, who knows nothing of comics, recognizes the logo.
Sheldon: It’s like the replacement of Homo erectus
Raj: I’m the new Homo in town…That did not come out right.
I was hoping they would have Raj come out of the closet. Instead, they put him in bed with Penny. This makes Penny the second woman (after Leslie Winkle) to have sex with two of the BB guys.
I’m starting to think the title of the show is actually in reference to how much sex these guys have.

Big fan here but this ep is where the show jumped the shark. Agree with johnpost except that I can’t claim to have seen every other episode for comparison.

At the risk of taking comedy too seriously, Penny’s character has an alcohol abuse problem and I am increasingly uncomfortable with the playing that for laughs. She is grown adult who binge drinks with regularity, uses alcohol to cope with uncomfortable circumstances, finds herself waking up surprised to find herself in bed with someone who sober she would not have sex with, who she regrets having sex with, and does not quite remember it happening. The show can address it as a serious issue and still be funny, but exclusively dealing with it as HaHa, she gets plastered, hooks up, and doesn’t remember it happening … that’s … wrong.
I think we can all agree. Terrible ending. Maybe the writers can salvage this somehow, but I’m not optimistic.
The thing is, it’s not as though the writers had reached a creative impasse. This season, they added two fresh new characters who created new dynamics within the cast. (Okay, so AFF was technically introduced at the end of last season, but that’s a piddling distinction.) So why this need to shake the dynamic up even further, and in a terribly uncomfortable way?
I did chuckle when Sheldon kept saying inadvertently saying funny things, then when the others laughed, snorted with laughter. It was kind of adorable.
I agree that Penny ending up in bed with Raj was icky. I mean, she’s always been loosey goosey, but that crossed the line into serious slutsville because she’s never been even remotely attracted to Raj. She needs a sponsor.
Or maybe Raj is a secret sociopath and slipped something into her wine. :dubious: That would explain a lot.
JK.
I don’t think that’s what happened. I think there was some other reason behind it that they don’t remember, and it will come back to them in flashes in the first ep of next season.
I hope.
No we can’t all agree. My wife and both thought this ep was hilarious; and loved the ending as a great cliffhanger. It’s hard to please everybody; but the two biggest complaints about tv shows is either “it was too predictable” or “It jumped the shark.” Well I personally don’t think the show has jumped the shark; and this episode sure as hell wasn’t predictable.
Total agreement with Enright3. We thought it was hilarious. Penny hardly has an alcohol problem, she and Raj are friends and she flat-out stated to him that she thought he was cute and would be on him “like M and C[sup]2[/sup] would be on E” except for that friendship. I think the emotional shuffle going on is needed, fits the dynamics of the show, and is freaking funny to boot. Next season is going to get interesting.
I agree with Enright and silenus - fun episode. My earlier comment was in appreciation of the chaotic note they’d ended on.
