What Meredith what? Kidnapping? How do people like her? I don't understand, she is one of the most abhorrent characters on TV today and I'm so happy to see her get her comeuppance right now. She doesn't think at all, she makes rash decisions without thinking things through, she'll hurt people without even considering their feelings. I can't stand her.
Of course, I love Keppner because she's the awkward, humble girl. I really, really want to see her succeed. This show basically says if you're a total asshole you're successful in life which pisses me off too. OMG Christina is going to have the baby, let Meredith adopt it because she's going to lose Zola, and then it'll be an open adoption so Owen can see? Wait, I dunno. Owen's the weird part. NO WEBBER DON'T YOU DARE DO THAT. Why are you covering for Meredith and her fuck up? *She* needs to be accountable for *her* own actions. |

It's okay, I can do the thread by myself all season.
Of course, Meredith comes out smelling like roses, the Mary Sue she is. I really, really wish Teddy didn't share in Cristina's fail, because Cristina really really needed that. Bailey continues to be the best character on the show! |

Oh thank god, at least Derek can call Meredith on her bullshit! He's the only one on the show who doesn't kiss her feet.

I hate Meredith so much, I don't want her to get Zola back. I like Christina and Owen together, I liked the appendectomy and the realization that neither of them could remember how to do a 1st year surgery.
And I still like Alex. He was an asshole, but it was mostly because he was so nervous about getting the surgery right. I think Alex is my favorite character on the show, with Bailey - especially when Bailey refuses to forgive Meredith and sees the actual problems with what she did. |

I still love this show, kushiel, I'll participate with you all season!
I love Christina and Owen, too!... I am certainly hoping the Arizona and Callie storyline will stay in the background this season. It was All.About.Them. last season... So who is going to be the the focus now? Looks like Mer and Der. Is this going to be the last season? If it is, it's only right they wind it up focussing on Mer and Der as they did in the beginning. I really, really gained a lot of respect for Derek with his speech to Meredith about marriage. I guess Meredith has never had that stability, since her mom just picked up and went across the country with her. But Derek's been through a marriage already. |

Yes, Derek's speech about marriage was very well done. That's the thing about this show, it hums along in its soapy way, interspersed with interesting patients of the week, and every so often there is one outstanding scene that just stays with you. Derek's speech. The scene where Meredith and another doctor were riding up on the elevator to try to save someone's life - they were talking quietly and rubbing their hands with hand sanitizer because there was no time to scrub in properly. Izzie's dream, getting on the elevator in her prom gown and it opens and OMG there's George in a military uniform. It really does have those special moments.

That must be what keeps me coming back to the show, salinq, in spite of my deep dislike of LemonFace I mean Meredith. I haven't watched the show from the start so I assumed that I must have missed what it is about Meredith that warrants her being the star of the show, but it doesn't look like I missed it after all.
Yay! A childfree by choice character on network tv who isn't "cured" by the love of a good man! I loved the discussions between Christina and Owen. Of course, Christina is a completely selfish person and that's why she doesn't want kids, but it's a step in the right direction. |

can someone summarize for me what Meredith did most recently that made Derek and most everyone here hate her?

But I don't get that Owen can't realize until Meredith tells him this fundamental fact about his wife.
I should do a search to see how many times I've posted on these very boards "I think I'm finally over this show" "Now I can drop this from the rotation" The writing is so inconsistent. Just when I am sure I never need to watch again there will be some faint glimmer of the snappy dialogue from season 1, or a brief flash of some beautiful acting. I liked the idea of Teddy and Henry getting together at the end of last season. I didn't like anything about her character in this latest episode. People who run around announcing that they're happy make me nervous. This has to be the last season, what other large scale disaster can they inflict on Seattle. Some of the things that bug me most about the show are the most mundane. Really, in a big hospital with contracts the chief just tells you "you're fired" and you get to wander around. No folder of paperwork, no security guard to walk you out and take you badge and anything else proprietary? No exit interview? I get why they think we're supposed to think that Richard feels responsible for or to Meredith in some wayfor the crappiness of her childhood, but Meredith's speech about her mom not wanting her illustrated (to me at least) that she was pretty well hosed long before Ellis met Richard. And anyway, Richard was supposed to retire in season freakin' one!!! I always ramble in these threads and get embarassed that I care enough to type this much. If Private Practice is still on this season I will have no trouble skipping that entirely. Last edited by gwendee; 09-30-2011 at 01:27 PM. |

Adele was a patient in Derek's study on a drug to treat Alzheimer's and Meredith tampered with it to make sure she didn't get the placebo because they had been having good results with the experimental drug. Alex caught her and in a drunken moment of self pity and listening to everyone talk about Saint Meredith he blurted out that she had screwed with the trial. Derek's study was pulled from him and he was blacklisted so he will never be approved to do another trial again and she seriously jeopardized the study. She was originally fired then the chief took the blame for her. In the middle of all this the social worker came by and some confusing statements led her to the fact that Meredith had been fired and she and Derek were no longer living together, triggering a string of events that led to Zola being taken away. When Meredith realized this was going on she took Zola from the hospital daycare and basically kidnapped her but made it right when Christina stepped in and got it to look like Alex was doing a follow up peds visit with Zola to explain the missing time. That was Alex's redemption to the rest of the group and got him out of the dog house.

Meredith thinks she's done nothing wrong. Helping someone she knows personally is more important to her, regardless of the fact that she just screwed over the other people in the trial. Because she fucked it up, she gets fired. Everyone else in the cast takes her side and starts hating Karev. Meanwhile, before this reveal, Derek and Meredith are in the process of adopting a poor African orphan. They officially get custody the same day the hospital finds out what Meredith did. Derek gets royally pissed and leaves Meredith. The social worker comes to do a welfare check and discovers Derek and Meredith are separated and Meredith has been fired. Worried about them splitting up right after getting their baby, she wants to lodge an investigation. Meredith freaks out, thinking they will take the baby away, so kidnaps the baby from the hospital daycare (it was Derek's day to take her). After a few hours, she realized she kind of just kidnapped a baby, and pages Cristina in a panic. Karev pays his 'debt' by pretending he has actually been examining the baby all this time and Meredith forgot her cell phone, which was why no one could reach her. tl;dr Meredith ruins a groundbreaking clinical trial out and shows no remorse, kidnaps baby because she's afraid Social Services will take her away. |

Eh, I don't mind Meredith - yes, she's a total sad sack, and yes, she does stupid things without thinking, but - having worked with surgeons for many years - she's not actually that dissimilar to some of them. There exists the 'no-social-skills-whatsoever-crap-bedside-manner-but-tallented-surgeon' stereotype for a reason. A former friend of mine - an ENT surgeon - when I asked why the hell she was dating a married man actually uttered the words 'his wife just doesn't understand him'. Yah.
I also hope there's a little less Callie/Arizona this season - I like them fine but last season felt like Callie&Arizona's Anatomy - a break is nice. I always find Bailey a bit much to take - she has her likeable moments (George quit looking at my vajayjay!) but I often find her a bit annoying. |

April Kepner. BTW, Sarah Drew is pregnant and expecting in January of 2012. So they're going to have to figure out a way for April to lose her virginity (as if that's going to be difficult in a workplace where everybody humps likes rabbits at the drop of a hat) or write her out of the show.

Pretty much the only character left on the show that I can stand is Alex. Because while he's an asshole, he's always been an asshole. What's everyone else's excuse?

I'm really, really hoping that this dude with the geek crush on Keppner is a one-off. omg we have to put the socially awkward girl that has never shown nerd tendencies with the socially awkward nerd!
Also, I'm feeling kinda iffy about this whole episode. I'm so happy to be out of the Meredith and Cristina drama and seeing the older guys being awesome, but this whole episode reeks of condescension instead of the self-deprecating humour of Big Bang Theory. |

I'm kinda not digging this episode. On one hand, I love seeing the plot being about the experienced dudes instead of the Mer and Cristina drama. On the other, I feel a bit insulted, because this isn't the self-deprecating humour of Big Bang Theory, this is condescending to geeks.
Also, Webber is so funny! I love his quirkiness. --- Edit: I came back to the page and the other post didn't show up, so I posted again. Derp. Last edited by kushiel; 10-06-2011 at 09:49 PM. |

I really liked this episode - it was nice to get a bit of a break from all the chick-drama and focus on the gents instead.
Also, I didn't find it particularly condescending to geeks. I realize that I'm taking my life in my hands here but people who think they are hobits, dress as hobits, move about the world as hobits, and talk about their hobit characteristics when in the hospital being assessed for their injuries are a bit...odd. I think poking fun at the oddness is no different than the pokes GA takes at other groups every week. |

I love Jackson's mom! I also read today at Ask that Chyler Leigh asked for some extra time off for family which is why Lexie hasn't been around much yet this season.
I...I was all ready to make a big rant about Mary Sue Meredith, but for the first time in her life, she actually shows some sense by not running after Zola. Also, I love MomAvery's meddling. I think I want Lexie and Mark to get back together and Avery and April to hook up. I love Keppner so much! |

Um waitaminute? Meredith and What's His Face deliberately bother and distract Bailey and then... Bailey pays for it? Seriously? What's His Face needs to be written up for that shit. And Bailey shouldn't give in to him! She should dump him. He should be apologizing to her!
Meanwhile, Webber is the biggest fuckface ever and I want to punch him in the face. I'm also pissed at Owen for letting Teddy operate in her current state. |

Holy shit hipster Alex! He reminds me of Clark Kent.
Also, I am pleased with return of Addison! And confident April! And everyone being the opposite! Except for Cristina lolz. Holy shit cokehead Lexie! No! I was hoping she was going to show up with Mark. ![]() Quiet Bailey makes me sad. Oh ho ho Alex! Knew you weren't as perfect as you seemed! Hrm, it appears that even in alternate reality, some things (ie, Shonda's pet couples) are meant to be. Derek and Meredith are the perfect shining couple. Addison makes this hard. I really, really want to love her just because I hate Meredith so much, but Addison also does such horrible things. |

What Grey's Anatomy has taught kushiel:
Nice guys finish last. If you want to pass the boards, you need to be an aggressive asshole. Don't mind me, I'll just be in the corner punching things. Because apparently being appointed Chief Resident doesn't matter for shit and the way to becoming a doctor is sabotaging clinical trials and being a condescending know-it-all. |

La la la la la so it seems most of the ----- OMFG ending scene just came up! I wonder who's going to die?

Yeah the preview really played it up so that Derek would be the dead one, which makes me think that would be too obvious. Who all was on that plane?
I have a feeling it's Alex. After Katherine Heigl said she's interested in coming back, it'd be an odd circumstance if Alex got killed when Izzie wanted to make amends (and then maybe Burke will come back to show Cristina some true love...not really). |

As long as it's not Lexie, Avery, Mark or Bailey, I don't really care who dies. I still think that they should have killed more people off in the shooting finale (Owen and Teddy, for starters).

Would doctors really wear scrubs on a plane? They don't wear scrubs when they go to the bar and they don't wear them in scenes in their homes. Why would they be wearing them on the plane?

I'm not entirely sure why April hasn't realized she can move to NOLA and spend the year preparing for the next boards. Really, you have nothing keeping you in Seattle, why not follow Avery? Well, except that Owen will probably find room in his budget having lost Teddy and Lexie.

I wasn’t going to watch this episode, but surfed into it just as Lexie was dying and then pretty much stayed with it.
I missed something: how exactly did the crash bunch manage to let the fire go out? The fire should’ve been their number one priority after simply keeping everyone breathing (except Lexie). So, Lexie’s dead, and five doctors are injured and stuck in the woods without food, water, a flare gun, or fire until fall (I assume no one's cell phone is working either). There’s not much point in speculating about what happens until we learn which actors have and have not renewed their contracts. I wish the producer and writers would concentrate on putting out a good show instead of gory manipulative melodrama that they think will keep people watching. And fuck you for offing Lexie. |
