I’ve been around for a bit but don’t post much, and as much as I genuinely enjoy the dope, I’d like to hear about some other board options from members. I’ve looked through the assorted rules stickies and didn’t find anything obvious, but I’d like to confirm before I ask in a thread. I’m particularly looking for a “technical questions” sort of board (queries about managing wifi, modems, computer maintenance, browser specifics, etc.) that has a similar feel to the SDMB (not that that’s entirely possible, I understand - this is a rather unique place).
For instance, someone here could no doubt tell me whether that period at the end of my last (confusingly long) sentence belongs inside or outside the parenthesis. One of many things I love about this place.
That said, can I post this thread without violating some board rule?
(the rules can be somewhat…convoluted, sometimes)

OK…so quite a few looks, hopefully by at least one forum mod, but no comments yet.
Let me clarify why I ask the question:

As stated above, I might not participate as much as I’d like, but my lurky self really does love this board. I remember all too well the Modly Admonitions not to talk about, post links or even mention (Gasp! -That Place Which Shall Not Be Named!) other boards (flame wars and such), particularly ones like the snack pit. Somewhat understandable, depending on the specific circumstances.
So I ask, again:
Can I post a thread asking SDMB members about other message boards, including ones not specific to the technical board I referenced above?

The “link removed” was because that was a link to message board that had no other purpose than to criticize the SDMB, frequented some people who had been banned from here for failure to behave. That was, perhaps, unique.

Thanks for responding, Dex. Wasn’t expecting an up-ladder answer. Not trying to be dickish in the slightest - just curious whether I can ask the question. As posted, I really enjoy and appreciate the SDMB. I understand that as in legal decisions, the precedent can come back to haunt. My basic question for the mod loop is this:
Can members/guests refer each other, in thread, to other message boards, understanding that the intent is not to disrupt, inflame, or otherwise invite trouble here.

Somebody will probably respond with a complementary thread. The topic is awkward and might require some careful modding, but I think the discussion would be worthwhile, highly useful.
