Well, the first season just ended and as much as I went around telling people it’s not that great of a show, I have to admit I was pretty sucked in to it. Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t watch it the day it was on, it was more of a “When I have time during the week” type show, but it still kept me interested and I’ll be watching it next season as well.
I’m allowing spoilers and I don’t want to see any boxes in this thread for anything that happened in Season 1. If you haven’t seen the show or you’re still watching it, proceed at your own caution.
I’m happy to discuss speculations about season 2 based on your own imagination or IRL events* but no S2 episodes should be discussed in this thread…if it should make it that far (the thread and the show).
So did anyone else watch it?
I don’t want to put anything in the first post so I’ll just leave you with this…I’m amazed with SMG’s acting. She did a great job of not only portraying the two twins, but also portraying the two of them pretending to be each other half the time. She essentially played 4 characters and, while I don’t know about you, I rarely had any trouble keeping them straight. Kudos to her, her acting, body language (which is what did it for me, you could tell as soon as she walked into a room who she really was and who she was pretending to be) as well as the wardrobe and writing…and script supervisor for that matter, that was probably a lot to keep straight.
*By IRL events, I mean, for example (totally made up) “I see that Juliet’s mom is signed for two more seasons I guess we’ll be seeing a lot more of her” or “I see on IMDB that Henry’s name is only on the first three episodes for next year, I wonder if he’s moving to Chicago or if someone’s going to kill him.”
BTW, did anyone notice that in the last, oh, 4 or 5 episodes Machado started wearing eyeliner? I’m sorry, he looked really goofy in that. He looks fine without it and he looks kinda goofy in an FBI office with harsh fluorescent lighting and makeup on.
I don’t know if he decided that on his own or if he got a new agent or if they got a new makeup person or what.
I think Nestor Carbonell’s eyes just look like that. I remember reading something during Lost where the producers asked him to lay off the eyeliner, and he told them that he wasn’t wearing any.
I have to say I was equal parts entertained and annoyed by the show. Entertained, because I love my melodramas to be all twisty and turny, but annoyed because the motivations of the characters, and how they were portrayed, seemed to change at the drop of a hat. The relationship between Olivia and Catherine? That caught me by surprise, because I wasn’t expecting it. But there was a reason I wasn’t expecting it, you know? It’s like they could have revealed that Catherine was in cahoots with just about anyone, and picked Olivia because it served to tie up two storylines at once. I have a tough time believing all of this was mapped out beforehand.
But I agree with you about SMG. The scene when she finally came clean to Andrew was a lot of fun to watch.
Any word on whether it’s coming back next year? Last I heard it was still up in the air.
Same goes for Siohban having a kid, did any of that come up in the first half of the series. I’m thinking they figured that out as they went, but it more or less worked out.
I’m just glad they did it this season and didn’t stretch it out. I don’t think I knew it was the season finale, but when she told the driver that she had to do it today, I figured she would put it off for three more episodes (like a normal drama). If there’s one thing I can say about this show it’s that it does move very quickly. New story lines are picked up and old ones are being wrapped up constantly.
Wiki and IMDB both only have mentions of the first season, so I don’t know.
OK, WRT the eyeliner, just typing in “Nestor” into Google will autocomplete with the rest of his name followed by eyeliner, so I guess it’s not just me. Also I found this.
I suppose I just happened to notice it halfway though.
I hope it comes back, I really like it better than Reven8e, but given that it’s on CW, ratings aren’t exactly hot.
I also don’t know creatively where they’d go now, seeing as the cat’s out of the bag and nearly everyone knows about Bridget replacing Siobhan now, but I’d like to see them try.
Every time they wrap something up, 3 new problems show up.
Don’t forget, as of right now, Andrew thinks Siobhan is dead and is contemplating staying with Bridget…even he has to admit he was happier with her then he ever was with Siobhan…so there’s that.
And as soon as Henry finds out and tells Siobhan she might show back up…but how? Will she lay low and try to kill Bridget? Will she make her appearance known? Will she say that Bridget tried to kill her and she swam to shore or someone picked her up and then do the old amnesia thing?
I can’t imagine she’s going to go to Chicago quietly now.
So many questions.
I gave up on Revenge about 3 episodes in, but really enjoy this one. I just watched the last three episodes after seeing this thread. I had recorded all of them without watching any of them until about the last five. I wanted to watch it, but figured it would be canceled, so I didn’t want to commit. My DVR was filling up and I was bored one weekend, so I marathoned it. Unfortunately, I loved it. From what I’ve read, word is that it was right on the edge, and in all likelihood won’t make it back next year. Shame on CW.
I agree about SMG’s acting, but I think she had already proved herself with the body-switch episode of Buffy.
As the season finale approached the end, I was really hoping Bridget would catch Siobhan so we would get to see the confrontation. I’m afraid it will never happen, now. I really hope it comes back, because, right now it’s just sad. They’re both completely alone.
Oh, yes! I dropped the show early in the season and played catch-up later, and after a few episodes I was hooked. But it’s easier when you can marathon it.
They have a lot of stuff left to do. We’ll see if they get the chance.
I just watched the last episode yesterday. For me this was also a “whenever I have time” show, though my wife was quite addicted to it and was the main driving force behind us watching it at all. I’m impressed we actually made it through season 1 despite my constant grumbling at the huge gaping plot holes.
In any case, I rather liked how they wrapped up the first season. All the devious plots to murder Siobhan and Bridget are apparently over. As I said when the show was over, you could settle most of the remaining problems by sitting the twins and having them talk it over some coffee and a good cry. If the show does return next season, I don’t know if I’ll watch.
Come to think of it, the entire second half of the season hinged on Henry not blowing the whistle on Siobhan. Out of the entire cast he probably knew the most. Hell, if he had teamed up with Machado they could have ended the show.
