The Office: 5/10/12 "Free Family Portrait Studio"

Quoting Krusty the Clown when I say "what the hell was that?"

IMHO a mess of an episode (what the hell was Robert California going on and on about trying to help gymnasts?)

Not sure if I'll be watching anymore.

He got David Wallace to make a million-dollar donation to his upcoming 'charitable efforts': helping young women overseas. He then strongly hinted -- without actually coming out and saying it -- that he'll simply be using the money to buy sex with those women: preferably ones who are built like gymnasts, mostly Eastern Europeans but some Asians too.

Yeah it sounds like David paid "Bob" $1M to go away.

Was this the season finale? Is whatshername, the English muffin, going to be staying around next season (assuming there is a next season)? I'm still watching this show out of habit but I'm not really invested in it. I don't think I laughed during this episode.

That was awful.

So they wrote out Robert in a totally boring way. They seem to be keeping Nellie around which is a mistake in my opinion; terrible actress and a terrible character. Angela and Dwight and the baby as a cliffhanger is boring and who cares. The Senator is really gay, duh.

The tear away suit gag was amusing but that's about it.

Just awful.

Come on, this episode wasn't as bad as all that. Gabe got two great laughs: the "Happy birthday" bit and "How the mediocre have fallen." I loved Robert California Bob Karazakis's exit--or not the exit so much as the looks on everyone's face as he explained his scam plan. Even Kevin knew what the score was. I also enjoyed the interaction between Dwight and his rival. "Have a burger for me."

My favorite was the energy drink for gay asians- Coconut Penis.
Robert California: What's with the coconut? I miss the original formula.

You mean Darrell, of course. That didn't do a lot for me either.

Is that what it was supposed to be? I assumed the "p...s" was "piss."

That's what I thought at first too but then I realized it was penis. Remember it was supposed to be a drink for gay Asians.

I also thought it was piss, but penis makes more sense.

Robert [drinking]: "Bleah - why'd they have to add coconut?"

It wasn't that great of an episode, but I didn't think it was horrible.

I thought Andy was too nice to Nellie. There's no way I would have hired her back after what she did. Actually, I'd see if I could send her away with Bob. But I'm guessing she'll be around next season which is why she was rehired.

Yeah, but you have to remember that Andy has a pathological need to be liked/be nice, is actually a nice guy, and is a bit of an idiot (his successful jumping on the opportunity to grab a major client to take over D-M notwithstanding).

While a Conan-type would have crushed her and enjoyed the lamentations that resulted, that's not Andy's style. I don't think Andy knows how pitiful her life is (was it just Jim who heard the phone messages?) - but I think he sensed it and, in character, helped her. I don't see him as a grudge holder.

It as Pam and Robert who heard the messages.

Yeah, I guess it was in character. I thought that maybe his character was growing, but seeing how he wanted to handle the big news of being reinstated, I guess he hasn't grown that much.

I wonder if this will be the last Office episode ever. I don't think that there's been word of a new season. The possible Dwight spin-off seems horrible.

Andy hired Nellie for special projects or whatever.

Wallace payed Robert $1mil to go away.

But what about Gabe? He works directly for Sabre not DM, so I was surprised he didn't get a scene or two to either freak out about Sabre going under or get rehired directly by DM.

I really don't want Gabe to go away, he's a funny character.

Good riddance to Robert, though. Never much cared for that weirdo.

Nellie bugs me (the character, not the actress, I quite liked her on Doctor Who), but hopefully if she really is sticking around they can work on that, now that the Nard Dog is back in power.

Wait..that was the season finale?! Wooooow. So if it was bad by normal episode standards, it was god-awful by season finale standards. It just got worse i retrospect, somehow.

Also, I remember the days when people were like "The Office writers are too smart for that." Heh, they proved that dead wrong, unfortunately.

I liked the episode as well. But I stopped watching it for plot a long time ago. I watch it for gags.
