I don’t play much on my tablet - but everyone talks about Angry Birds, so I know of it.
What are the other big games out there for smart phones and tablets?
I have been tinkering with SimCity Deluxe and enjoying it quite a bit.
I enjoy Quell and its sequel Quell Reflect. Although I use Android, I assume its available for iOS as well (you didn’t specify). It’s a puzzle game where you move a water droplet around, collecting dots.
Quell is the top of the paid apps list in the Amazon catalog so I must not be totally alone.
I mostly play implementations of boardgames. Caylus is good (though the UI is different than the board game). Le Havre is much closer to the board game and also good. A lot of people like playing Ascention (deck building game) more on a device than in real life. Ticket to ride is also good.

Where’s My Water is better than Angry Birds.
I like Cut the Rope and Jetpack Joyride.
*My 8 year old son would pick either *Where’s My Water *or Plants vs. Zombies.
I’m addicted to Flow Free. Unfortunately, they have fewer boards available for Android systems than for Apple products.

If you’re into crossword puzzles Shortyz is great. It downloads the daily puzzles every day from NYTimes, LATimes, USAToday, etc.

Tilt to Live for the iPhone. A good bullet-hell style game with several fun game modes.
Second this. Quell Reflect is a wonderful game. Other games I like are Edge Extended, Air Attack and Riptide. Also Osmos HD though I am not sure how they well that would work on phones smaller than my Galaxy Note.
Trial xtreme 2 is a pretty fun Trial motorcycle game. Don’t bother with the first game though, that is terrible.
