In recent weeks, I have been unable to log in intermittently.
If I attempt to log in from one of the forum header pages, I get a screen with the usual “Thank you for logging in, Senegoid” message. After about five seconds, this screen disappears and the forum header page re-appears – usually with “Welcome, Senegoid” appearing where the login box formerly was (showing that I am logged in), but sometimes not (appearing just like I never logged in in the first place).
More often, I lurk without signing in. In this case, if I click in a button to add a post or quote an existing post, I get the usual larger sign-in prompt, with the list of reasons I might not be allowed to post, and the boxes for name and password. Upon entering those, again I get the usual “Thank you for logging in, Senegoid” message. After about five seconds, this screen disappears but the same screen re-appears with the reasons why I might not be allowed to post.
If I try to log in again, sometimes that is successful and sometimes I seem to be lost in a loop of signing in, only to get the “Thank you for signing in” screen followed by the sign-in screen again. Sometimes I am successful after several tries. Sometimes I close all by SDMB windows, erase all my cookies, and try again. That is usually successful, although not always.
I have been noticing this increasingly often in the last several weeks. What is going on? Are the hamsters getting senile?
