I have never posted here. I am friends with the user here named “Khadaji” and wanted to share some sad news with those of you who knew him.
Earlier this week, Ron (his real name) fell ill with the flu. He was quite sick and became dehydrated. The dehydration led to a heart attack. He was found sitting upright on his sofa with his dog at his feet.
I have know him for more than 25 years - he was like a brother to me.
He would often share stories of Straight Dope discussions. Though I never joined the forum or followed along, I got the impression that he was fairly active in the community here.
He was a fiercely loyal man. He would want all of his friends here to know that he just didn’t abandon you.
That’s terribly sad. He had dealt with so many health issues over the years, from what he said here, and I was hoping that he was past the worst of those.
From what he posted here, it sounded like he was very fond of his dog. Is there someone who is willing to take his dog in?
Oh dear, I’m so sorry to hear this. He always seemed like such a sweet guy – quick to welcome a newbie or offer sympathy to someone experiencing troubles.
I know he had an elderly mother, but can’t recall if she had died or not. In any case, please convey our condolences to all who knew and loved him.
That’s part of the surprise - he has been in good health the past year or two, though his past surgeries may have impacted his ability to stay hydrated.
Sadly, his dog is in rough shape. She’s a diabetic, and went without insulin for a couple of days. The police took her to the vet and we are hoping for a positive outcome.
If his mother does not want to keep the dog, others have expressed interesting in helping KC find a home.
His mother is still alive. She’s doing as well as can be expected under such circumstances - she’s still in a bit of shock, but I’m sure that with the support of his friends and family, she will muddle through.
