A Friend Lost - Khadaji

Hello,

I have never posted here. I am friends with the user here named “Khadaji” and wanted to share some sad news with those of you who knew him.

Earlier this week, Ron (his real name) fell ill with the flu. He was quite sick and became dehydrated. The dehydration led to a heart attack. He was found sitting upright on his sofa with his dog at his feet.

I have know him for more than 25 years - he was like a brother to me.

He would often share stories of Straight Dope discussions. Though I never joined the forum or followed along, I got the impression that he was fairly active in the community here.

He was a fiercely loyal man. He would want all of his friends here to know that he just didn’t abandon you.

I don’t know what else to say, so there it is.

Sorry to have to share such sad news.

That’s terribly sad. He had dealt with so many health issues over the years, from what he said here, and I was hoping that he was past the worst of those.
From what he posted here, it sounded like he was very fond of his dog. Is there someone who is willing to take his dog in?

I didn’t know him, or his posting, but I am very sad to hear this nonetheless.

My deepest condolences on the loss of your good friend :frowning:

That’s awful! I’m so sorry.

Thank you for letting us know, Musashi. I’m sorry for your loss.

Oh dear, I’m so sorry to hear this. He always seemed like such a sweet guy – quick to welcome a newbie or offer sympathy to someone experiencing troubles.

I know he had an elderly mother, but can’t recall if she had died or not. In any case, please convey our condolences to all who knew and loved him.

This is so terrible. I’ve seen his posts here very often.

My heart goes out to his family, his friends, and his dog.

Thank you MusashiFlex. You did a good thing posting this.

Ye gods, he was only 51. In fact his birthday is a week after mine. Mortality staring me in the face…

I hope his mother (if she’s still alive) and his dog have someone to look after them.

Well, hell. I enjoyed his posts, and always hoped that we might get to meet sometime since we were sorta local to each other.

MusashiFlex, I’m sorry for your loss. My condolences to his family.

(As a complete aside, I take it you enjoy Steve Perry’s books?)

I’m so sorry. He’ll be missed. I knew him mostly from the monthly What’cha Reading threads.

51 is way too young.

Always enjoyed his posts. He was a good dude.

Oh no! I’m so sorry. I always enjoyed the way he greeted newbies in welcome threads.

We have all lost a very kind and thoughtful friend. My condolences to you and his family. Wishing you all courage in your time of loss.

Oh dear. :frowning: I’m sorry for the all-too-early passing of your friend, and thank you for letting us know. This is quite a loss.

He was such a nice guy.

Second this. What a damn shame. RIP

Seconded. I remember him as a guy who shared when he had something to share, helped when he had a way to help, and cracked wise with the best of 'em.

Oh no. I don’t want to believe this.

That’s part of the surprise - he has been in good health the past year or two, though his past surgeries may have impacted his ability to stay hydrated.

Sadly, his dog is in rough shape. She’s a diabetic, and went without insulin for a couple of days. The police took her to the vet and we are hoping for a positive outcome.

If his mother does not want to keep the dog, others have expressed interesting in helping KC find a home.

His mother is still alive. She’s doing as well as can be expected under such circumstances - she’s still in a bit of shock, but I’m sure that with the support of his friends and family, she will muddle through.
