Seems like at least all year this MB has been kinda slow. Not terribly slow, but chronically slow enough to be irritating.
Anyone else notice this, or it just me?
Be more specific. I think we’ve discussed this the last week or so about response time.
It seems to get hung up a lot. Not for real long times, maybe just 15 - 20 seconds or so, and not all the time, but more than 10% of the time.
This has been going on for weeks. I don’t mean to imply something happened on Jan 1, but about that time.
Me too. It’s just sporadically hanging for 15-20 seconds as you say. There doesn’t seem to be any particular time or action causing it.
Yes, I’ve noticed it on two computers, one an older laptop on wifi, one a newer desktop on wired internet. For a couple of weeks, I’d say. It had been generally good for quite some time before that.

Yes, it has been slow for me. One thing that seem to help sometimes is keeping the main page of the board open and opening the subforums in another tab instead of just clicking on them.

Same here. Specifically, for the last couple of weeks I’ve noticed it’s slow to authenticate when I want to log in to post (taking your 15-20 seconds, sometimes longer to load from the authentication screen), to sometimes timing out when I click on Post Reply button. I haven’t noticed pages being slow to load, usually, though sometimes when opening a thread it’s lagging a bit…but definitely when I’m authenticating or trying to post a reply to a thread.
It’s a fairly recent problem, at least that’s my feeling.
Personally, I don’t blame the boards, or the hamsters anymore.
I would guesstimate that every site I go to does this at least a couple of times a day. No matter the time, the browser, or which computer I may be on.
You click the link, and the spinning circle thingy spins but stays greyed out, until it suddenly turns green. Then it sits there, spinning while you eagerly wait for the blank screen before you to bloom in all its glory. (Like waiting for spring!)
Sometimes, you can only close the tab or window, and try again. Or close the browser and open another. Usually these things don’t do diddly though.
So you click another bookmark, and up pops that site, or maybe not. Seems to be around a 1 in 3 chance of it popping up properly.
Yup. It is noticeable. Not anywhere near the agony of the “good old days” several years back when you could read a section of your newspaper before a page would load. But it does seem a bit balkier lately.
I’ve noticed it a lot when I hit “preview” on a post - spins long enough that I go browsing google news, which is a new development. As Tamerlane says, not as bad as 7 or 8 years ago, but definitely noticeable.
Message board is going so slow that I posted this back in 1932 and you all are just now reading it.
Traffic is way way way up. Not sure why but it’s not something site owners usually feel bad about.
We have been here before, just took us a while to get here again. Guess there is never a thing as too much pipe.
I will pass this on upstairs. No promise of anything but I will bring it to their attention.
I’ve noticed it here too, but put it down to my 'puter playing funnybuggers, even though it doesn’t happen on other sites etc.
But as has been said, not so bad as the bad old days…remember the era of the multiple posts?
