This morning, I made a post in my Barry Bonds thread in IMHO. It took fifteen minutes for it to go through. Are we returning to the bad old days when the board was slower’n molasses in Alaska in January?
Yes, I have also noticed.
Practicing my sig line!
I don’t know what would have caused this, but I’d say it was temporary. Speed has been fine for me over the past few days, and I didn’t hear my colleagues complain either.
But keep alerting us if it happens again, of course.
Definitely slow for me tonight about 6:30 to 7:30.
By 8 it was flying again, as it is now(9:00)
Every time it has been really slow, I’ve looked at the main page, and seen more than 200 people (total) online. I swear I saw more than 250 once, but am uncertain of the time.
I will say this - a lot of people are experiencing it. One can easily track the jump in UnaBoard activity with the reports and experiences of slowness over here…
It was very slow for me this morning, about 8 AM. I realize thats a heavy traffic time, but it was much slower than usual.
Fortunately, I haven’t noticed…having recently acquired cable access. (insert smug smiley here)
But truthfully, even when everyone was screaming before about how slow it was (back in my pre-cable, 56k days) I honestly didn’t have a thing to gripe about.
I, too, have noticed that the longer I stayed off the board during the day, the more the posts would build up. But for me, that’s the way it has always been.
Its been very, very slow for me as well.
I, too, have noticed this. Especially during the high traffic times, around 9-10 am PDT. I waited ten minutes to get a post in, yesterday.
Very slow here as well. With cable access!
Clean your cable, pal. I’m in the same town and it’s running fine for me.
allright *getting sponge and bucket *
I’m (virtually) in the same timezone as you, Coldfire, & it’s slow for me in the evenings (whether from work on their high speed link, or from home on my 56k modem). I’m getting frequent timeouts again, and people have started commenting in chat on the board being slow again.
Put that bucket away, young daffodil! ;).
Yep lots of time-outs in the evenings. -1 hour from Coldie
Well, reporting from Central DST in Illinois, I have noticed only very occasional slowdowns on some threads, with no apparent rhyme or reason to them, other than that they’re always in GQ, GD, or the Pit (I don’t spend that much time in MPSIMS, so I can’t speak for their results over there), and it’s always when there are at least 200 members and about 50 or 60 guests on the boards. So I’m assuming that it’s just sheer volume of traffic and thus probably not fixable.
And it only started doing it just recently, when we got up to about 17,800 registered members.
I’ve noticed a few slow downs at times, but nothing like before. It seems to happen at 200+ logged on.
Anthracite, I believe you’ve seen 250. I’ve seen 300 between registered users and guests. Can’t remember what day, but it was in the afternoon. I’m in EST.

Oh, Jerry the Tech God, it is obvious that the Teeming Millions have failed to provide you with an adequate sacrifice. What can we do to redeem ourselves in your eyes?
Well, now I know that it isn’t just me or the library’s access that’s at fault. And the library has the fastest access possible.
It’s the librarian, Jab. She’s got one of those buttons under her desk like they have to slow down roulette wheels–don’t look at her, don’t look at her!–and whenever she sees that you’ve just clicked on Submit, she pushes the button.
Nobody knows why librarians do this. I think it’s because they’re jealous of the Internet and want people to read more books.
Or maybe she just wants you to leave so she can have a turn…
It’s been a little slow for me today, for the first time in months. SAY IT ISN’T SO!!!
And yes, I am over on the UnaBoard while I’m waiting.
