Which 2013 Summer Film Will Make the Most?

Which film do you think will pull in the most money?

Which are you most looking forward to?

Poll to follow.

Make the most? Star Trek Into Darkness followed by World War Z.

Looking forward to the most? Iron Man 3, Hangover III and Kick-Ass 2.

I won’t bother watching most of the movies on the list, especially Star Trek and anything Cruise is in.

I think Despicable Me 2 will definitely be up there. The first one made over 500 mil throughout its run.

Maybe. It’ll either be the new Shrek or the new Remo Williams.

The Wolverine might just sneak in there, but I doubt it. Early WOM will make the difference.

Iron Man 3, all others are pretenders to the throne.

I have no interest in seeing it, but I hope the movie makes a ton, as I read someone online (so you know it’s true) that the studio is waiting to see how The Wolverine does before it completely greenlights a Deadpool movie.

Are you talking U.S. only, or are you counting international grosses as well?

I voted for Iron Man 3. The only movie coming out the week after its release is The Great Gatsby (which I don’t see doing much), while Star Trek Into Darkness has to go up against both The Hangover Part III and 6 Fast 6 Furious the week after its release. That could put a damper on Star Trek’s longer-term prospects.

In terms of box office, that was my first guess, too, especially after the Avengers. However, on second thought, I have a hunch that it’ll be Star Trek - that the new movie will be the Dark Knight to the 2009 film’s *Batman Begins.

Star Trek is my guess. . . looks like a cool year for SciFi. . . and a bad year for future Earth.

Can’t even get the title of Star Trek Into Darkness right?

While ST is going to be a personal favorite of mine, Iron Man 3 will blow everything else out of the water.

:smack:

I participated in a movie fantasy league this year… auction style, everyone bids on all of the major movies coming out from April through August to fill out a ‘team’, highest total domestic box office wins. As part of the ‘prep’, I looked fairly closely at everything coming out this summer. There were a lot of surprises (Wolverine and a couple of the lesser animated movies are going to do a lot more business than you might guess off the top of your head), but the top was pretty straightforward.

Iron Man 3 went for the highest price (at 50% of a single team’s total budget), while Star Trek was second (at 44%). There’s enough of a variance around the projected revenues that either could win, but Iron Man has to be a pretty significant favorite, and any domestic winner outside of those two would be a massive upset.

I’m speculating that the superhero genre has peaked with Avengers and Dark Knight Rises and is going to start sliding back down.

Lot of sequels on the list with very few original works.

So I’m going to take a long shot here and pick Turbo.

eta: While this is a movie the OP didn’t name, I am in no way implying that he is stupid.

I agree. High quality animated children’s movies are difficult to beat.

I’m guessing Star Trek into Darkness. Iron Man and Man of Steel would be up there but I think Star Trek would have a wider appeal.

I picked Oblivion on the grounds that all the people who voted for Romney because he was a Republican and therefore against gay marriage, will buy tickets to Oblivion because they have heard that Tom Cruise is gay but it pretending he is not gay, and dammit, they appreciate him for that!

Besides, the trailers look kinda cool.

Still early but it looks like Iron Man 3 is expected to go pretty big:

Anything rated R has zero chance of making the most money, but Hangover III is probably the only one I’ll go see in the theaters.

I don’t think the OP should feel too bad considering there was a massive edit war on Wikipedia on whether or not the “i” in “Into” should be capitalized.

I think it’s a pretty safe bet that Iron Man 3 will end up making the most.

Personally, I’m really looking forward to Pacific Rim.
