Oh, it’s possible: the Comprehensive Ignore List mod lets users put individual threads and/or entire forums on ignore. It also gives people the option to have all threads started by users on their ignore list not show up in the forum list or New Posts search results. It’s pretty nifty.
I don’t know if that will solve the OP’s problems, though. They may not make a mod for that.
What I meant was that it’s not possible here, at the SDMB, which I presume is what the OP was asking about. And it’s unlikely we would do that.

You could employ someone to stand behind you at all times and cover your eyes whenever you click on the forum that you in fact wish to not click upon.

When I’m rolling around on the board, I don’t go forum by forum, I just click “new posts” at the top. If the OP is at work, maybe they don’t want to see thread titles like:

Fuck interference engines

Blocking the Pit might be the means to that end.
Count me among those who are opposed to a form-excluding Greasemonkey script. If some Dopers can’t see The Barn House and SD Chicago, it will certainly change the character of the board in some subtle but indescribable way for the rest of us, most likely for the worse.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got to start a thread about the folly of homeopathic medicine.
