It occurs to me that there are many ‘good’, ‘fun’, 'entertaining, etc. YouTube videos and channels, but (for me) there seem to be a ‘class above’ where the medium and the message meld into a cinematographic delight. In thinking a bit about it I find the ones I consider ‘perfect’ often are short, so they can ‘hit that note’ perfectly. Often there is a sense of a deeper story in them. Occasionally there are those longer ones that hit that note enough that either it sustains awesome or it comes around to awesome again.
In the category of being more perfect when you watch an intro: Kitty Corliss (the one that made me think to start this thread)
Watch Grinding the Crack first to properly set the stage.
The version I’m thinking of, however, included a perfectly timed “HEADSHOT!!!” (a la Unreal Tournament) and then the baby screeches. So, yeah, very wrong, but perfect nevertheless.
Although I suppose a truly perfect video would be one that actually existed…
omg thanks for sharing! it didn’t quite get me immediately, but i lost it after she paused to take a breath, adjusted her position and started to laugh again at what she saw.
This may not be the best YouTube video of all time, but to me it distills some of the pure amateur enjoyment of the site. I present to you the Asterino Sisters singing God Bless the USA. It’s goofy, embarrassing, totally sincere, and had me laughing out loud - like something from Awkward Family Photos.
I miss the Mystic Cat video he did years ago. I guess he had to pull it as the cat’s owner asked him to, but my kid and I still use the line: “Mouuuuuse… Come Ooooonnnn!”
