We recently got HughesNet high speed internet at home so now my wife can watch youtube. She has never really seen any youtube videos and doesn’t get what all the fuss is about. I have been watching youtube for years at work so I think I have seen a lot of the same videos as everyone else. But now I can’t think of them.
So what videos can you think of that it seems like everyone has seen? I’m really looking for the more enduring ones like **Charlie Bit Me **and **Mother’s Day **instead of the viral ones that fade away after a week.
You are about to start drinking from a firehose, you know.
Oh lessee…all of the various “Downfall” mashups (there’s a thread on them right now); “Leroy Jenkins” (only funny if you’re into videogames), talking cats, cats on a treadmill, farting preacher…go wild.
You can get great vintage short films, with a little searching. Here is the first film Mel Brooks ever made, “The Critic”.
There’s a wonderful YouTube channel, The YouTube Screening Room. This channel has some excellent short films and documentaries. Among my favorites are “Harvey Krumpet”, the funny, sympathetic, and imaginative story of a very unlucky Polish immigrant to Australia; “Our Time Is Up,” which is hilarious (I won’t spoil it for you); and “Second Guessing Grandma,” a cute and, ultimately, heart-warming film in which a young man comes out to his old-fashioned grandmother.
