I’ve renewed the game and sent invitations to everyone that played last year. There is no limit on the number of players, so everyone is welcome to join us. We’ll be picking the Yahoo default games and of course, the premier conference in college football, the elite, the unstoppable, the 7 consecutive BCS Champion producing SEC.
Please don’t bother checking the box that says “allow commissioner to edit picks”, because I’m not gonna. Ever. For any reason.
We are using confidence point scoring, but straight picks, no spread.
The league is at Yahoo, Group ID# 4891 and the Password is cecil.
No snark intended - I keep asking (twice, I believe) because I haven’t gotten an answer. I’m legitimately intrigued why you name fantasy leagues after yourself. I don’t even think Matthew Berry does anything similar.
Beef started running his games before I started mine, and he uses the SDMB tag in his titles. I use my own name to prevent confusion. Is that ok with you?
The biggest game of the week is probably Georgia (5) @ Clemson (8), followed by LSU (12) @ TCU (20). I’m picking the road team in both those games, but I’m a little nervous about Georgia.
Again, there is no limit to the number of players in this game, and everyone is welcome to join. Remember to get those picks in, and also REMEMBER TO SAVE YOUR PICKS! You’ll know you’ve done it correctly if you scroll up to the top of the list and see COMPLETE at the upper left, under “Status”.
And now the moment you’ve all be waiting for…the very first Official Upset Special of the Year----------Mississippi State over Oklahoma State, on a neutral field in Houston, TX. HAIL STATE!
Since I’m usually the first one to bash the SEC’s scheduling practices, I should be the first to point out that we have 2 SEC teams going (a) on the road against (b) good opponents. Kudos.
I’m not sure what Yahoo’s criteria was, but dang, there were some … unusual choices to make this week. (Georgia St - Samford? WTF?)
Epic SEC battle in Nashville tonight. Two lead changes in the final two minutes. Ole Miss freshmen coming up huge the whole game. Robert Nkemdiche (hope I came close to spelling that right) is an absolute BEAST. A true freshman, playing his first college game. Huge, athletic DE, picked up a first down on a fake punt, blew through a triple team to flush the QB, created problems for Vandy all night long. Ole Miss pulled off a win for the ages tonight.
The problem with dropping a week is that not all weeks are created equal. Last week 25 points, 325 available points. This week 561 points.
I wish there was a constant 25 games (or whatever) each week.
Anyone that plays every week is almost certainly going to drop the week with the fewest games, which is probably the last week since most BCS teams are not playing the Conference Championships.
Week 3 picks are now available. The big one this week is Alabama @ A&M. Bama’s offense did not impress in the opener against VT, but Saban may have been holding back, not wanting to show too much on film before traveling to Texas. Plus, Saban had an off week to game plan. I’m picking Bama, and would not be surprised to see Johnny Football get sacked several times.
My Official Upset Special this week is Nebraska at home over UCLA.
