In this thread you said:
Not only did to misspell signature, but you are flat out wrong about signatures only being allowed for paid members. Do try to learn the rules you’re supposed to enforce.

rockinglicks sig. was spam anyway.
It will make me laugh if the ultimate result of this thread is Oakminster getting signatures disabled for all the guests on the board, including himself.
Really? Let’s see…
Survey says: Signatures enabled for guests.
From here:
Who can use signatures?
Anybody can type a signoff at the end of a post, but only paid members may have signatures set up in their profiles (to set one up, click “User CP” on the menu bar at the top of each page, and then choose “Edit Signature” from the menu on the left).
…
I like to sign my name at the end of each of my posts. Is that OK?
You can do a simple signoff of the form:
[complimentary close - optional]
[your name]
I think you’re missing a “nyah!” in there somewhere.
I’m pretty sure that rule is outdated. I remember having a discussion with Ed about it in this very forum, probably around June, 2010. As I recall, Ed just deleted everybody’s signatures…or maybe just the signatures of guests. I protested, and won a reversal of the policy and a restoration of the signatures.
Unfortunately, I can’t find the thread with a search. I did find an email from Tuba Diva providing me with the text from my signature, which I greatly appreciated. That’s how I can narrow down the timeframe of when this happened.
Also, I note that I do, in fact, have a signature attached to my profile, and I am a guest, therefore, Samclem is wrong in the statement he made.
There’s something funy about this comment
Read the rest. It kind of goes back and forth for a while.
Your search-fu is stronger than mine. That’s exactly what I was remembering. I take this post as the final resolution:
as I don’t remember seeing an announcement of anything different.
I, for one, support samclem’s moderation.
When was the FAQ updated to include the rule that sigs for guests were not allowed? If it was after Ed’s post, then that would seem to serve as the announcement.
Well, here’s a thread from this year where samclem apparently forgot that guests can’t have signatures.
The first one I linked to was from 2006, the second one from 2010 left it kind of hanging.
Right- Ed’s post you linked to was 6/8/2010. The FAQ on sigs was edited in 2013, but it’s not clear what that edit was for, or if earlier edits (which may have been the update Ed is referring to) were done.
I’ll try to spellcheck more often counselor.
You’re correct, I misspoke. I should have said that Guests can’t have signatures set up in a signature file in their profile. They have to manually enter it into the post in question.
Oh, and BTW, you have your sig set up in your profile. I’d probably copy it down somewhere where you can retrieve it in the future(in case it disappears somehow).
That would be his point.
If I’m correct, a guest can’t have a sig set up in their profile. You also have a sig set up in your profile.
HIs point was I was incorrect about signatures only being allowed for paid members. I said he was correct and I was wrong.
But, you have to manually enter your signature into your post in a thread. You can’t have it set up in your profile.
I’ve sent this around to the mod/Admin loop in email. If I"m incorrect, I’ll let you know.
Really? You’re threatening me?
Not you, just your signature.
Though it did come across kinda like a Mob boss.
“That’s a nice signature you got there. Wouldn’t want anything to happen to it.”
