Movie question

There are two movies that I remember only a few things about that I saw years ago.

Movie one: Was about country people who were affected by tomatoes (not the Killer Tomato movie)by trying to kill each other. I don't have a clue what the name of the movie is.

Movie two: Started out on a sheep farm where the animals were sick and lying on the ground. Someone went around to the animals and stuck them with a stick to let built up gas out so the animals could survive.

The only movie I can remember about sick sheep is Rage with George C. Scott. That's probably not it, because I don't remember the scene you describe.
