I know that I have made my presence known to at least a few Dopers, but how much do you really know about me? Do you really want to know? Well if you do, then just ask me a question that pertains to me. I will do my best to answer them and I hope that you will learn more about me (even though I have been pretty open).

Well, gentlemen (or ladies. I don't care), start yer engines!

Here's a question...

Do you know what a "Personal Web Page" is? Ever heard of a profile?

Okay, so that's two questions. Sue me.

Me too. But, hell, if you aren't going to answer the questions anyway, why the fuck start a thread that says, "Hey, ask me questions about me!"??

I don't want to know you very well at all. If I happen to feel the need to ask you questions, rest assured I would ask you via email or in an appropriate thread.

Or you could get your ego strokes by having a Personal Web Page. You could even link to it in your profile.

Oh the possibilities!

Thank you for asking answerable questions, Nicklz. To all the rest of you, I am sorry if I hurt your feelers by answering the way I did. Truly I am. Ask me some others. I will try to answer to the best of my capabilities.

NerdBoy, I don't know what my quest is. Sorry.

Silver Fire, your questions seem a little, well, demeaning. I don't know if you are being silly, but I will play. A Personal Web Page is well, a web page that is about you or some aspect of you. It has your "touches" in it. It is personal. A profile (at least the one I'm thinking of) is a simple biography (i.e. where you live, likes, dislikes, etc.).

Oh, and Primaflora, I am sorry if you find the fact that I have a Personal Web Page linked in my profile so offensive. I can't please everyone. Geez.

Oh my goodness!

Bwahahahaha! Ummm nope, I don't find your web page offensive!

I guess I foolishly assumed that if someone felt moved to do a thread like this then they had not discovered the full glory of the web and the ability to post personal info on a personal web page.

Hey all - Why don't you fucking lay off dlgirl? This isn't the Pit and there's no reason to shit on someone here. IMHO, most people who shit on others for no reason just do so cause they feel shitty about themselves - and are trying to make everyone else feel just as bad.

I'm sorry your life sucks, hers obviously doesn't. She's been "pursued" a great deal around here lately so there's no reason she shouldn't address her many admirers.

Well, there are something like 140 members actively on the boards right now (10:15 p.m.). There are 17,000 registered members (albeit not all of them active). If all the members who had admirers (or detractors) started threads to let other posters learn more about them via q-and-a sessions, there wouldn't be much room for other stuff.

That's the value of a webpage, a profile, and gradually revealing parts of your personality through your posts and participation.

I suspect that this is the reasoning behind the neagtive reaction to threads like this. Not jealousy, or our lack of non-sucky lives.

Most threads, even the personal ones, allow a variety of posters to post about themselves, their experiences, their opinions, or whatever. Threads like this really don't.

Silver Fire, I did answer yours with a yes on both accounts. The problem here is the way you "said" it. Like I don't know what those are and I don't have either one. Anyway, the reason I don't put more info on my site is because no one asks. Therefore I don't know what everyone else wants to know about me. I know I should probably take this as no one cares to know, but I know that at least one person does.

Thank you, leander. I guess this thread isn't turning out the way I wanted it to. I didn't know that this was such a touchy subject. I guess I started it off, thinking NerdBoy and Silver Fire were being sarcastic. I know Silver Fire was, but I still haven't heard from NerdBoy. Anywho, for those that don't like these things, don't post in them. And, everyone, please don't put others down. That is what the pit is for. Talk about me or these threads there. I don't care (unless there is reason to defend myself).

Oh Cranky - I think you're right, personal pages, etc. are a better alternative. But is it necessary for SOME (not all, just some) to be assholes about it? Really, why be a prick when a polite slap on the wrist would do just as well?

So the simple maths of if we all opened a thread like this on account of how damned fascinating we are but we don't know what people wanna know 'cause they never got around to asking us, don't make any sense to you dlgirl?

It's pretty simple really. If we all assumed that people had questions and opened a thread asking people to ask us personal questions, the server would choke and die. Therefore most of us give info on personal web pages or over the course of time.

This is not a personal attack. I am not a sad bastard. I think these have been mild slaps on the wrist and I don't see anyone being a prick about it.

Now, previous silliness of mine aside, I agree with leander, although without the half-assed psycho-analysis and judgement of others' lives (Really leander, what do you really know of anyone's lives here to say whose sucks?)

This thread has been hijacked with sentiments that really belong in the Pit. A quick scan of Nicklz's thread shows no such thought were expressed that, although it is the same sort of thing. People see a trend starting and want to stop it before overworking the server, that's understandable. But with one thread open and successful in this vein, why shouldn't dlgirl think this thread would be ok, too?

If we want to attack the trend, I believe we should attack it in the Pit, since by what I see, dlgirl did nothing wrong. Cut dlgirl a break. Her picking up on this idea is not that different from the myriad of "Ask the ..." threads.

In the meantime, instead of this thread getting hijacked any further, for those who don't like the thread, how about opening a Pit thread about it and giving a link? I mean, if it really means that much to you.

And, because I actually am curious, what's the "dl" for in "dlgirl"?

Thank you Crunchy. I noticed the same thing you did in Nicklz's and Superdude's thread. I don't know if mine was the breaking point, but it seemed as if everyone was against me. Sorry again if I did something unspeakable.

And now for your question, dear, the "dl" in my name refers to Disneyland. DL is a short way of saying Disneyland. Many Disney fanatics use it.

I read your post wrong, I thought it said, "I noticed you did the same thing in Nicklz's and Superdude's thread." Instead of, "I noticed the same thing you did in Nicklz's and Superdude's thread."

Maybe it is time to call Mr. Doctorman again...

Crunchy Frog -

I agree with you - I don't know these people and I really shouldn't comment on their lives - or judge them. It just pisses me off when so many people here and in RL are so nasty and mean-spirited, making stupid jokes at the expense of others. It drives me fucking crazy!

But I don't think what I said was "half-assed psycho-analysis" - it may have been wrong, in this case, but it's generally right.

And I still love Sad Robot.

Hmmm...Who's my favorite Disney character? Well, in the Fab Five I would say Mickey, but for the movie characters I would say Belle. Or maybe Megara, or Hercules. Oh, geez. This is too hard. It would be easier to say what star in the sky I like better. And don't ask me that, because I don't know. I do know that I like looking at the stars though.

Oh screw all that crap. What I want to know is if you are really a virgin, and why. I took a peek at your site and you and that doesn't seem to be the problem. Maybe your mom lives in your room with you, but you must go out. Do you have horribly mutilated private parts or something? Are you saving yourself for the perfect German Shepherd? What the hell is going on there?
You're not too far from where I am in Ca. If I were 30 years younger, I'd come over there and get to the bottom(so to say) of this!

Thanks, ageless. I needed the laugh.

I am a virgin because no one has offered to "deflower" me. That didn't sound nice. Oh, well. And no, my mom doesn't live in my room. If she did, I would be living anywhere she wasn't. I don't know what is going on with this little problem, but I think that there are a few guys here that are interested. Now the job is just finding which one is acceptable.

Primaflora and Silver Fire, this is not the place. dlgirl has every right to open this thread, and she did so because elsewhere on this board several posters (including myself) expressed our interest in getting to know her. However, the other poster and myself also said that we're not the best at sending a random e-mail out trying to get to know someone.

If you click on that nice bright red house under each of dlgirl's posts, you'll be magically whisked away to her incredibly well put together website with a lot of information about her. However, the one thing you cannot do on someone's website (at least on hers) is to directly communicate with her. God, I don't even know why I'm writing this, this is so out of character from any of the posting history of each of you that I'm familiar with. From the thread's subject, you knew exactly what the OP was going to be about. Why'd you open it?

Now, back to the OP:

dlgirl, I see you go to ASU. Do you like it?
What are you studying?
If you haven't picked a major, what are some of the classes which have interested you?

Favorite movie?
Favorite comedy/drama/action?

Do you feel you are seething with potential, but haven't found the right outlet for it yet, or do you know what that outlet is, but don't know how to achieve/possess it?

That's all for now. I will be back.

I thought job was... Oh. *blushes*

*wonders if dlgirl would have caught as much flak if the thread had been called "Ask the Horny Virgin"*

*blushes again*

I do have a question or three, though...

Could your quest possibly be something along the lines of becoming a love slave? Just an edjumicated guess...

And since I already know your name and quest, the remaining questions are:

What... is your favorite color?
What... is the capital of Assyria?
What... is the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow?

(You realize that we all must shun you if you haven't seen that movie, right? Or at least give you a good spanking...)

What subject or area of knowledge do you know a lot about that most people would never suspect just by talking to you in daily conversation?

Per the link below from your web page your dogs are obviously possessed by satanic forces. How does this impact the course of your everday life?

Munch asked:
dlgirl, I see you go to ASU. Do you like it?
What are you studying? Haven't picked anything. Used to be Anthro, but it wasn't what I thought it was.
If you haven't picked a major, what are some of the classes which have interested you? I have done well (and paid attention) in my Math classes as well as my Intro to Chem class. I am pretty proud of that fact. Anywho, I find (most of the time) if I get interested too much in one subject, I go overboard and get sick of it.

Favorite movie? "Singing in the Rain",
Favorite comedy/drama/action? Comedy- Recently, the movie that I have laughed the most in was "Rat Race". Drama- "Little Women", though I can't get through it without crying. Action- Hmmm...I don't really watch action movies. I seem to like comedies more than anything.

Do you feel you are seething with potential, but haven't found the right outlet for it yet, or do you know what that outlet is, but don't know how to achieve/possess it? Am I seething with potential? Oh, I don't know. I seem to be seething with a lot of stuff these days. You know, I can't say what I see myself doing in the future. I am kind of floating about, testing the ground to see if it is safe. I unfortunately didn't go through this phase until now. I wish it would have happened earlier. Oh, well. (If this isn't quite what you are looking for, sorry.)

Sorry, Munch. Forgot to answer your first question (duh!).

dlgirl, I see you go to ASU. Do you like it? Do I like it? Hmmm...that is a hard one. You see, it is school, a place that isn't entirely fun. But it is also a new and wonderous place every time I step foot on campus. I like to wander around, kind of romantically, at school. That isn't great for my studies, considering that I kind of ignore them and think about the wonders of the world and not about Ethnic Relations in the US or why some writer wrote something about their religion. I guess I am destined not to think about school and just think about life. I will be in deep trouble, though, if my parents find this out. My mom is working at the college (has for more than ten years) and she wants to quit when I get out. We get a tuition break because she works there. I don't blame her for wanting to leave; it is very hard on her. The students are not always nice and the organization of the office (i.e. they send you back and forth between departments) is frustrating.

dlgirl, in sticking with the horny virgin theme, how would I go about being chosen to deflower you, and what are my odds of that occurring, and bringing it to fruition?
