Since I'm sulking about not being able to make the Australian one, perhaps those of you in or near HK can gather for a lunch at some stage?

Abe is apparently honeymooning somewhere, but he and I have tentatively agreed to catch up on his return.

Anyone else in South China or thereabouts?

China Guy, I'm guessing Shanghai is a little too far...

Looking out on Victoria Harbour right now... the sun reflecting on the GFS helicopter, the Star Ferry swanning gracefully towards Kowloon, the spring onion in the wonton I had for lunch repeating on me a bit...

Ah, well, I'm in Alexandria House.

When Abe gets back, we'll organise a lunch.

(I didn't quote the bit about the onion burps )

Aauugh! Don't do this to me! Man, I miss that place. I'd gladly swap an AusDopeFest for a HKdope.

Fantastic dim sum in some restaurant (the name of which escapes me) in Monkok, with a dangerously cute local girl and a cold Tiger beer....

(TLD rummages through his crap trying to find his passport)

Count me in, but only if it means all-expenses paid, including a week at the Mandarin Oriental (I want my butler)and some money for shopping, and afternoon tea everyday and a pretty paper parasol and.........noodles, lots of noodles

beckwall: We might be able to manage 2 hours in one of the Kowloon Tong "motels".

So there are at least 3-4 HK dopers, plus (amazingly) a few who'd like to be?

Well, if Dopefest is held sometime between december 6th and 9th, I guess you could count the newbie in too.

Dave Stewart kindly extended an invitation for lunch, which I gladly accept. (Provided my timing is not too inconvenient of course.)

(BTW, I was only joking about the dog in GD, I could've had some in China, but I chickened out. No pun intended.)

The 7th is a Friday.

Shall we have lunch?

1:00pm at....where?

I usually skank it at Starbucks, which is no place to take a visitor.

Hemlock - any ideas?

We could go local at Rat Alley in Lan Kwai Fong for semi-authenticity, or go to Mezz or somewhere for something halfway decent but hardly authentic.

I'm easy. Friday 7th looks fine to me. And Central would be fine.

For a bit of local flavor, one of the semi-alfresco places in Rat Alley would be good. (I've never head it called that, but you must mean the place with Club 64 and the Vietnamese and Thai places.) Or one of the Indian places a bit further up on Wyndham? I eat anything, including dog.

What would our visitor be comfortable with?
