NYC Dopefest for May? (Will be my last)

Somewhere towards the end of May, I’m moving away, and I’d love to be able to do one more NYC Dopefest before I go. Not looking for anyone to “Fest me away” or anything, just the standard Doper type event.

My inclination is something like the 21st of May, but I’m open to other ideas as well.

And I have no clue where, because I suck at planning these things. So mainly, I guess I am just looking to see who would be interested, and get some ideas as to what/where/when.

Where are you going? If you move to Florida we’ll “fest you in”.

Actually, I will be in NYC the weekend of May 21st. For a wedding, so I won’t have much availability, but I’m also trying to meet up with Garius at some point over that weekend, if he’s in from England already. So I’ll keep tabs here. Sunday morning brunch would be nice, or later on Friday or Saturday nights.

I owe **Garius ** a drink or two, so hopefully he can make it then so I can settle up. (It’s not my fault, he left when I was taking my rounds  )

I like the idea of a Sunday morning brunch, and maybe a group activity after that for those who can stick around longer during the day.

I’ll try to work around finals and such to be available.

And there’s a kicking dim sum place I know how to find in Chinatown, which isn’t terribly far from where we’re staying.

Is it on Mott Street?

I dunno. Across the street from the police station, and up a set of escalators. The place is ginormous but AFAIK totally unmarked (at least in English) from the outside.

I’m too old and frail for those big shindigs, but how about a small farewell lunch at the Algonquin?

I don’t know our Saturday schedule for sure, but I might be up for a $10,000 martini at the Algonquin.

I’ll definitely be around and available. Count me in.

Cool. So far so good.
Also, I’m open to splitting events, with say a lunch at the Algonquin one day and a brunch/outing the next. Or whatever. I’m easygoing, non demanding… Just hopin’ for some Dopin’

It’s all so mysterious…TMINC is going away.
Are you Kezer Soza?

No, but I am Kevin Spacey…
But that’s just between us. Shhhh.

Man, what a weekend to pick. Actually any weekend in May would be a lousy choice for me because there is too freakin much going on. Anyway May 21 is my college graduation. I will keep checking in here though to see how the planning goes!

I may be able to swing it; I graduate May 15 or 16, so I may be going out with friends the next weekend, but we’ll see.

Sadly i won’t be moving to your side of the pond until the 10th of June by the looks of things.

If any of you tax-dodgers fancy a “Welcome to America” drink some time after that though, just let me know.

I ain’t Kevin, but folks tell me I’m pretty spacey.

I often work Sat. eves. (I play moozhik), but if not, I could drop by. If there’s a general consensus where “by” is going to be.

Where do you play mooszhikat? Maybe we could drop by.

TellMeI’mNotCrazy, Sorry to hear you’re joining the fleeing masses. If I miss you @ the end of May, best of luck in your new home.

Just a suggestion for this busy forum: If this thread continues to fade into the depths of the archives - perhaps you could cull a few names from old ‘get together’ (as opposed to fest) threads, paste the names in your thread and get more responses from NYC area regulars who do vanity searches.

Thanks, JohnBckWLD, that’s a good suggestion.

OK, so here’s my initial thinking:

Friday, May 20, lunch @ the Algonquin.

Saturday (or Sunday) morning, Dim Sum in Chinatown. If anyone can identify the dim sum place **Shibb ** mentioned, that’d be a big plus

And if we don’t end up planning anything else, I might just do a leisurely shop around Chinatown for the afternoon, so anyone interested in that (or with better ideas) is welcome to join.

Told you I suck at planning these things.
