It’s not too expensive, is it?
Nah, a decent lunch can be had at the Algonquin for about 15 bucks or so. Very reasonable, in my opinion.
My suggestion is 1:00 to miss out on the noon lunch rush. But either way works for me.
1 pm sounds good to me. What do the rest of you think?
Also, is this strictly Dopers-only? It would make it easier if I could bring my SO.

All depends. Clubdates and casuals. Fri/Sat nights I’m often at The Cajun (16th & 8th). Right now I have this Sat. but not the 21st.
Dim sum is great, and probably cheaper than the Algonquin. When on W. 44th, I generally prefer Virgil’s BBQ anyway.

If there’s not a lot of interest it might just make more sense to cancel, although I will very likely do the Chinatown thing on Sunday, whether it’s part of a Dopefest or on my own…
I’m in for lunch, Algonquin, 1 pm, Friday, May 20. If we want to go for dimsum immediately following, I’m in for that too.
Did any/some/all of you make it to see TellMeI’mNotCrazy off? Based on post dates, I have a sneaking suspicion neither the DimSum breakfast or lunch @ The Algonquin ever got off the ground. Sorry if that’s the case TellMeI’mNotCrazy, and good luck in your new environs

No problem - I know what a hectic time of year it is.
And I am indeed on my way. I’m currently in Spain, on a 14 hour layover. So for a few more hours at least, it’s “Di me no soy loco”, or something like that. Man does my Spanish need work.
Oh, I meant to mention that I did actually meet Shibboleth. My mother and I hopped down to Chinatown Saturday morning, and had some dim sum with them (both his wife and my mother are Thai so I figured even if it wasn’t really a Doper event, it would be fun to get together.) So it wasn’t a complete wash. I enjoyed myself, and really enjoyed meeting them.
I think the dim sum place y’all are talking about is Jing Fong on Elizabeth st.

Oops. Didn’t realize this was an old thread. Sorry.
Unfortunately, I had my last final on the afternoon of the 19th, and then tied one on at the bar with most of my classmates that night. I had quite the weekend planned - a classmate’s birthday on Friday, then a trip to Brooklyn with another classmate for another party after that, and for whatever reason I thought that the plan was to get together on Saturday. Around 3 PM on Friday, I dug up the thread to see if anything had been firmed up.
Ah well. C’est la vie.
