Fantasy Football help needed - please

You should listen to White Li’tnin’. He’s put together a Cracker Jack team in the “He Hate Me” SDMB league. Yessir, he’s absolutely destroyed everyone he’s faced, a real dominant team. Nobody with Garcia as their QB could hope to compete against a team like that, not in a million billion catrillion years!

A link to his team please?

Kathy

Here’s the league page. WL’s team is the Red Sox, way down at the bottom of the standings.

I’m ^%@#^%!! down near the bottom, so you can weigh my advice appropriately as well
Hey, It’s just week one. I’m only warming up.

Yes, but you didn’t hold forth repeatedly as to how you were going to kick my ass in week one.

Whereas its a foregone conclusion who will be kicking your ass in week two, so luckily, I don’t have to burn any extra calories typing up some serious smack talk.

dang! it took me to the main yahoo page. guess it’s the same cookie problem that we ran into when trying to show you my league.

k.

Ah Dave, Dave, Dave. What’s left of my pride demands that I keep my mouth shut for now – so let’s just wait 12 1/2 more weeks and then talk again.
The irony about Garcia, though, is quite appropriate.
Carmen, you have it backwards – she’s dropping Wycheck for Williams. And a good drop it is; he’s backing up Gonzo on her squad and he is currently moderately concussed (10th of his career by his count, I heard). I’m guessing he’ll be out at least a week or two and that his numbers will not only continue their downward trend of the last few seasons but drop off dramatically this year, if he plays out the season at all.
And yeah, unfortunately, only public Yahoo leagues can be viewed by those not in the league.

Here’s the damage:

So what do you think oh venerable masters?

I have a couple questions? What do I do when my one K has a Monday night game (like this week)? and what do I do when he has a bye week?

Do I go without a K that week or do I trade someone for another K. Or maybe I trade the good K for whoever is avail???

Same questions for the lone TE.

Thanks.

Kathy

There has to be somebody better than Hambrick on waivers. Any other week, and I would run Taylor ahead of Green, but Green Bay has Detroit this week, so that’s a good call. (for that reason, you may want to consider playing the Packer Defense) Other than that, you’re playing what I’d be playing. Scour those waiver wires!

There might not be any beter than Hambrick. In my leagues, RB’s highly sought and nobody’s got depth. This year, there are just too many NFL teams with either lousy RB’s, or RB by committee situations. In one of my leagues, a 10-teamer, I had the 10th pick in the 10-team league. Every single pick before me was a RB!!! I had to take Deuce McCallister just to make sure I had somebody at RB. With the 11th pick, I then grabbed a QB, thinking that there was no way I’d be left with a top QB by pick pick #30. After taking McNabb (McLoser in Week 1…), RB’s were taken in 6 of the 2nd Round picks, and 5 more in the Round 3. Basically, I had to grab 2nd tier WR’s at that point and so my #2 and 3 RB’s are Zeroue and A. Smith. And there ain’t no RB’s worht taking on the waiver wire, and nobody will trade a RB.

Even in my other league, an off-line draft, RB’s just seem to be very thin this year. If you have two solid RB’s then consider yourself lucky. In past years, it was sort of like this with QB’s, that there were a few really good ones, but everyone else was mediocre. But at least you could get a reliable RB because there were more predictable RB’s and very few RB’s by committee.

Monday night is the same as Sunday or Thursday or Saturday for fantasy scoring purposes. When your K has a bye week coming up you would get another K to play for you that week. Depending on who your regular K is you could drop him for the new guy or keep him on and drop the new guy after you use him.

yoyo, I’d call Deuce at 10th overall a steal. Who in the heck went from 7-10? Probably Henry, maybe James… if it was a Yahoo league I guess Taylor went in the first round… Barber? I can’t even think of who might have been picked before him. You got lucky. And it was silly to take McNabb at 11th. Picking late is the best scenario when RBs get taken so fast because you’re going to end up with 2 studs. Take Deuce/Barber, Deuce/James, you’ve got better RBs than everyone else and they’ll still all take RBs on the way back in round 2. It’s absolutely wrong to take a QB before round 5 this year given the depth at that position.

Here’s who is avail (to replace Hambrick). Ok, so just who had scored. I wasn’t about to copy/paste every single one of them that came up. If there is someone who you think might be there that didn’t show up, please suggest and I’ll do a name search.

WL are you saying that even if the game isn’t played on Sunday, they still count that player in the final score? I got the impression last year that they didn’t.

I’ve been a Packer fan for a long time. Ever since I fell out of love with the Cowboys <ouch…don’t hurt me. I was taught to love football in college by some Texas natives>. I had the Packers to start with but then after reading what nfl.com recommended, I switched to Titans.

So that prompts another newbie question… If I don’t know what I’m doing (which we all know I’m just learning now), if I don’t go by what they say, then how do you know who to go with? Until I learn how to do this better I mean??? Sheesh, did that even make any sense?

Don’t tell my husband (he’s not a football fan but Rico does read the boards regularly so I might have just told him myself <sigh> I’m going to be in so much trouble. I already feel guilty spending the $ on it) I signed up for another team.

I’m sorry honey! I won’t eat today to make up for the $8. Please tell me you still love me.

I’m really getting jazzed from y’all teaching me! I wanted to start from the beginning… ya know, like know how to rank the draft positions. So do I have this right?

Rank Draft Position
1 Running Backs
2 Running Backs (2nd)
3 Wide Receivers
4 Wide Receivers (2nd)
5 Tight Ends
6 Quarterbacks
7 Reserve Quarterbacks
8 Defenses
9 Kickers
10 Reserve Wide Receivers
11 Reserve Running Backs
12 Reserve Defenses
13 Reserve Tight Ends
14 Reserve Kickers

The new team will be the Spunky Sharks. yeah, I’m stuck on spunky ocean inhabitants. I’ve been spunkydolphin for to long (someone else had spunkydolphin when i signed up for the SDMB but I’ve never seen them… I wish they’d give me the name <crossing my fingers>

The team drafts tomorrow. Same kinda team as these two… 12 members of the league with H2H scoring.

Kathy

I still think Moe Williams is a steal off waivers.

Depending on the league, I think your draft positions look just about right (10 and 11 might be bumped up above 9, depending on who’s available)

You aren’t the only one who thought that. When I went to make the trade, Moe Williams had been scooped up.

Kathy

I was going to say that I thought Williams’ upside was better than Hambrick’s. Ah well.

Yes, that’s what I’m saying. Every game in Week 2 counts this week, regardless of when it’s played. Unless the rules of your league are completely off the wall. But I’m certain that the game on NFL.com is fairly straightforward.

As for ranking the importance of the positions, that is entirely dependent on scoring rules for your league. For most standard leagues, I’d bump TE down at least below starting QB, I’d bump up bakcup RB and WR above TE, backup QB, DEF, and K, I’d bump K to the bottom and drop 13 and 14 off the list (or put an asterisk or something by them) because I don’t believe in them. And of course as always it also depends on personnel.

Oh, and I forgot the actual reason I opened up this thread again – first quarter and Garcia’s taken a couple of big hits and had to sit out one series. Hmmmmmm.
