Popular songs with the word ''baby'' in the title

I’m planning a baby shower for a friend, and the question of party favors came up. Well, who the hell needs a ceramic baby bootie filled with mints, anyhow, says me. So I thought I’d burn a CD for each attendee of songs with “baby” in the title – like “Be My Baby” by the Ronettes. I’d tend to include more oldies pop music (NOT “Baby One More Time” or crap like that, though) because the attendees vary widely in age and musical taste, and oldies are sort of a common musical denominator, in my view.

And everyone knows, when it comes to song lists, the SDMB is the place to go! Please help!

Baby, Baby - Amy Grant
Baby, I Need Your Loving - Four Tops
Baby Love - The Supremes
I’m Your Baby Tonight - Whitney Houston

And, of course,
Baby Got Back - Sir Mix A Lot
Ice, Ice Baby - Vanilla Ice
Baby, Don’t Forget My Number - Milli Vanilli

Baby Baby, Amy Grant (1991)
Baby Come Back, Player (1978)
Baby Don’t Go, Sonny & Cher (1965)
Baby Hold On, Eddie Money (1978)
Baby, I Love You, The Ronettes (1964)
Baby, I Love Your Way, Peter Frampton (1976)
Baby, I’m-a Want You, Bread (1971)
Baby, It’s You, The Shirelles (1962)
Baby Love, The Supremes (1964)
Baby, What a Big Surprise, Chicago (1977)

Baby, I Love Your Way - Peter Frampton

(You’re) Having My Baby - Paul Anka

Baby Blue - Badfinger

Baby, It’s You - the Beatles

Bye Bye Baby - Marliyn Monroe
Hey Baby - DJ Otzi (Hey hey baby I wanna know if you’ll be my girl)
Baby, I Need Your Loving - The Four Tops
Baby, Now That I’ve Found You - The Foundations

Maybe also Cradle of Love - Johnny Preston

Hmm…<evil grin>

Great suggestions, all! Thanks! Keep 'em coming!

Oh, “baby” isn’t in the title but you have to include Up All Night by the Talking Heads.

Here is a, hopefully, Euty-approved lyrics sampling … but there are plenty of sites on the web with all of them, so if you’re not familiar with the song, do your own search and you’ll see how PERFECT it is for your CD!

Mommy had. A little baby.
There he is. Fast asleep.
He’s just. A little plaything.
Why not. Wake him up?
Cute. Cute. Little baby.
Little pee pee. Little toes.
Now he’s comin’ to me.
Crawl across. The kitchen floor.

~Experienced Mom, who says DON’T YOU DARE WAKE HIM UP.

Grr. Belatedly, I note the title is actually “Stay Up Late.”

Fighting ignorance here, yessiree bob.

Baby you Can Drive My Car - The Beatles
How about “I Got You Babe” ?

If you extend to “babe”, I’d bet you could find a whole lot more.

Does your friend know if the baby is a boy or girl?

Because there’s “Come on baby girl, I need to know” by Enrique Iglesias.

cmkeller, she doesn’t know the sex yet…but the song you mentioned, I think, is “I Need To Know” by Marc Anthony. Which would be great, because she really likes Marc Anthony. There’s gotta be a way to fit that in somehow…

jk1245, I say “Babe” is good enough. So, “I Got You Babe” will be included. Yay!

Ellen Cherry, you know, that song (and song title, even without the “baby”) will fit perfectly.

Thanks a bajillion!

Don’t Worry, Baby – The Beach Boys

Hmmm, methinks the mother lode for this category will be in the R&B/Soul categories…

May I Baby &
Hold It Baby – Sam & Dave

Ain’t It Baby
Ooh Baby Baby
Baby, Baby Don’t Cry – Smokey Robinson & the Miracles

Have You Seen Your Mother Baby, Standin In the Shadow? – Rolling Stones [surely the longest “baby” title ever!]

Honorable Mention: “Pink Thing” by XTC. Andy Partridge’s love letter to both his newborn son and to his own penis. (Hey, the guy’s twisted like a Philly pretzel, & his fans love 'im for it!)

Here’s a new wrinkle…I’m thinking maybe I should include some songs like “Oh Boy” by Buddy Holly and “My Girl” by the Temptations.

Baby Can I Hold You – Tracy Chapman
Run, Baby, Run – Sheryl Crow
Brand New Baby – Semisonic
Hey Baby – NRBQ
Baby’s Coming Back – Jellyfish
She’s My Baby – Mazzy Star
Don’t Drop the Baby – The Judybats
It’s A Wonderful Thing, Baby – Kid Creole & the Coconuts

Look for My Baby &
Wonder Where My Baby is Tonight – The Kinks

Couldn’t find any offhand of a third “King,” which would’ve made it three kings for your friend’s kid :D, but there is:

Bossa Nova Baby – Elvis [Leiber/Stoller]
It’s My Own Fault Baby – B.B. King

Baby, I Love You–Aretha Franklin

I Love Ya, Baby – Brak

My Baby Does The Hanky Panky

The KKK took my Baby Away - the Ramones
Baby Please Don’t Go - the Animals
**Babe I’m gonna Leave You ** - Led Zeppelin
**I Can’t Quit You Baby ** - Led Zeppelin
