Comp. Printing Question. Font prints different from 2 diff computers.

I have an HP LaserJet 4V hooked up to an old P-333 running Win2000 which i use as a quasi-server here at work.

When I print a document from my HP Pavillion laptop (brand new) running Windows XP Pro and Office XP to the Laser, it looks fine. But when I print the same doc from an older Gateway running Win98 with office XP, things don’t turn out so hot…

One of the lines has the font: Impact, Bold, 20 point, with shadow and outline checked off in effects. As I stated above, this prints fine from my laptop. But when printed from the Gateway, the line with that font prints in all black.

However, the print preview looks good, and it prints just fine to an HP 880 deskjet.

I went to HP.com to look for updated drivers with no luck.

Any suggestions as to how to make this font print properly on my laserjet?

Do you have the correct font installed on your Gateway?

Well, when I open the doc on the gateway, it shows the font as Impact.

Only thing I can think of is you have either two versions of the typeface, or the one on the Gateway is corrupted just enough to be funky.

Try renaming the file (impact.ttf) on the Gateway to something like impact.bak, then copy over the impact.ttf from the HP.
