Aeron Chair rubbing on carpet?

My Aeron chair seems to be doing something to the berber carpet in my home office. I don’t think it’s the wheels of the chair, but rather the support post in the middle of the chair. it seems to be rubbing on the carpet and causing it to pill.

Does anyone know a way to fix this?

Have you considered buying one of those plastic mats for the chair to roll on?

IIRC (my Aeron is at work, and I’m at home now) the center column does come very close to the floor. On very low-nap commercial carpet on concrete, it’s not a problem, but on padded berber, I can easily see this thing dragging as the wheels sink into the carpet.

pasunejen’s recommendation of a mat would be the best course of action. Head to your favorite office supply store and pick up whatever’s suitable for berber - mats do come in different types for different carpets.
