Cite Your Favourite Saturday Night Live "Commercial"

What was the best phony commercial ever in the history of SNL?

Name your THREE favourites, in order.

Mine:

  1. “Colon Blow”
  2. “Old Glory Robot Insurance”
  3. “Happy Fun Ball”

Only one comes immediately to mind:

First Citywide Change Bank

  1. Little Chocolate Donuts

  2. Oops! I Crapped My Pants

  3. Big Red

Puppy Uppers and Doggie Downers – Funny every time.

The ad for the car that gave such a smooth ride, the moyel could do his work in the back seat. “Poifeckt!”

  1. Big Red

  2. Old Glory Robot Insurance

  3. General Dynamics

Puppy Uppers/Doggie Downers

Dammitol

Old school SNL-

SLUDGE

Bass-O-Matic

Puppy Uppers & Doggie Downers
More recently-

Bug-Off (the roach trap)

Big Red

“Philadelphia” Action Figures

Battle Cats

Big Brawn Feminine Napkins
(which I found the name of by googling “like a big friendly lumberjack between your knees”)

Happy Fun Ball
Elvis’ Coat
Bad Idea Jeans

Slightly less funny when I missed that you said it only two posts above me. :smack:

Until someone mentions “Shirt in a Can” this thread is incomplete.

So “Shirt in a Can”

Off the top of my head, and subject to change at any moment:

  1. Nerf Crotch Bats
  2. Three-legged Jeans
  3. The phone company (NCI?) commercial with David Spade, back before he started doing real commercials

Most of my favorites have been mentioned, except the Will Ferrell one with the Roach motels…

And “Bathroom Monkey” with Janeane Garofalo…

Oh, and “PetChow” brand ratpoison.

The double toilet with Kevin Nealon and Victoria Jackson.

Old SNL:

“Quarry”–the cereal made from stone.

The Quaalude soap–can’t recall the brand name.

“Speed”–the paper bags always cracked me up!

Later SNL:

“Old Glory Robot Insurance”–nothing in the later years has even come close!

The Citibank parody (where the bank keeps calling the customer to harass him) was pretty funny.

And, just a bit of a hijack: The best commercial parody of all time, IMHO, was MadTV’s “Come to Canada”–the mother and daughter one. Talk about an unexpected punchline–this one takes the prize!

I really loved Battle Cats.

Made even funnier by their use of real cats.

I don’t remember the name, but the gay beer commercial with Sandler and Farley.

“Schmitt’s GAY”–almost forgot that one! Very funny.

Already mentioned , but Puppy Uppers/Doggie Downers was my all time favorites, I still threaten my dogs with one or the other depending on their actions.

Schmitt Gay beer always cracks me up.

And one that hasn’t been mentioned, the new Woomba, to clean your coochie , I think it’s hilarious !

In case you missed it,
