There are three kinds of ignorant in this world: ignorant because you simply didn’t know something, ignorant because you can’t help it, and ignorant because you prefer it. You, suezeekay are the latter.

You started in the thread What to Do About Immigration? with these gems: (Note, these are pieced from various posts)

If you want a correlation between illegal immigrants and crime just ask the people who live close to the work centers that Phoenix has been forced to provide for these people so they aren’t standing out in the middle of a major highway waiting for employers to pass by in trucks and hire them. Their cars are broken into and their children can’t go outside to play. Or, maybe it’s just their immagination. Yeh, that’s it.

Also a comment about comparing divorce rates: don’t compare Hispanics and especially Catholic Hispanics to white Protestants. The reason is obvious. Stability in the home and staying together because your culture and religion disapprove of it are two different things.

I understand how these ignorant people, who have nothing in Mexico, think that the United States has unlimited resources to give them a job, provide them medical care and education, provide housing and all the services Americans expect. But their ignorance cannot be our downfall.

I don’t worry about myself. By the time America as we know it is gone, my children and grandchildren won’t even remember what it was like.

There’s quite a bit more along these lines. suezeekay believes that all people of Hispanic descent she sees are here illegally. She also thinks that they’re destroying American culture, that they’re criminals (solely responsible for bringing crime into her hometown Mayberry) and that the only reason why some have stable families is that they’re compelled to stay together from fear of social shame.

I spent a good deal of time explaining that we here on the Dope require proof of accusations, and why it wasn’t good to paint an entire people with the same brush, to which she would just respond with more accusations of immorality on the part of Mexicans. I finally told her to put up or shut up: show proof that Hispanics are destroying our culture, hate America, etc., ect., etc. She replied loftily:

You attack my ideas in vast generalities and from a moralistic point of view. I’m off that and into the rational side of things so we really can’t debate.

If it wasn’t so pathetic, it would be uproariously funny. Without offering any proof for her assertions, vanished from the thread, only to pop up like a poisonous mushroon in the assimilation thread with this:

I think when foreigners come to this country they should assimilate because otherwise, on a greater level, the country loses it cohesiveness; on a smaller level, the fact that Mexicans stare at your boobs and crotch when you walk by really bothers me and I think that someone would have to be stupid not to at least try to emulate the behavior of the natives. So, it must mean they are stupid. It is so offensive I can’t tell you.

When I was younger I went to a polka dance; there were some Mexicans there and one of them asked me to dance and throught apparently because I was alone it was okay to try to rub up against me while dancing; I think he thought that I was available for money. So, you can see where cultural differences can cause real problems. Ugh.

My insistance that all people are guilty of the same flaws led her to triumphantly crow:

This isn’t the first time she hinted that I must be of another race, that I must have a “vested interest” in this debate. I’m sure it’s obvious to her that no white American woman could* possibly* hold the view that racism and xenophobia are distasteful.

Secondly, I’d bet the fucking farm she wouldn’t know “Persian” idealology if it came up and punched her in her slanderous mouth. From the sound of it, she gets all of her information about other cultures from Stormfront and the Aryan Nation publications.

She sure loves them immigration threads. She joined in a few more to spread her wisdom. In this one:

I welcome Indians, Germans, Asians, etc. because they don’t hang around on the corners of every town across the U.S. looking for jobs, clog up our hospitals and schools, and think that because a miniscule number of them pay taxes, that they are somehow deserving of what our taxes provide.

But what’s interesting is that her own son exploits illegal labor:

My son managed a restaurant where it turned out a lot of the kitchen staff was illegal. Yes, they did withhold on these people because they had presented fake Social Security numbers. But this only goes on for so long, until IRS sends a letter saying they can’t match the Social Security number with the name. But, in this particular case, the restaurant was raided and they were all taken away by INS. Of couse my son got a call, as I’ve mentioned before, 1-2 weeks later after they got a new fake Social Secuity card and wanted their jobs back.

What’s most distressing to me about this is the notion that this woman bred, and her children might have the same ignorant, racist notions.

suezeekay your views are abhorant, and describing your debating style as lame would be overly-generous. You are no different than the people back in the 1960s who opposed black rights, and you use much the same excuses and “logic” as they did.

In my seven years here, I’ve seen many of your ilk come and go. I’m now going to lump you in with that group and predict your future based on what happened to them.

You will do one of the following:

1. Finally wander away, bewildered and indignant that every time you spew more of your vile shit, you get your ass verbally kicked by everyone who has the IQ and enlightenment of a mallard duck. In this sense, your presence is somewhat useful, much like a chewtoy which helps a puppy grow in his adult teeth. New Dopers can get the hang of verbal evisceration, sharpening their wit on you. It’s always best to start out with it where it’s easy, and boy howdy, do you make it easy.

2. You will stomp off in a huff, complaining that your point of view (which you are apparently incapable of defending) is not respected, likely adding that we’re all just a bunch of liberals shooting down any heresy to the party line. (Quite likely, you’ve never put any serious thought into the opinions you espouse, so don’t imagine that anyone else would.)

3. You’ll finally cross the line and get banned.

Any way it happens, none will mourn your passing-- actually, it’s likely no one will notice, because there will be another racist fucktard out there waiting to take your place.

Why don’t you spare us all the tedium of the wait and go now? You will not be happy here. We Dopers are a skeptical bunch. We love to debate, obviously, but debate involves facts not your “personal experiences” or your feelings or your ignorant, cloddish, disgusting and pathetic opinions.

I’m sure Rush Limbaugh has a board, and I know there are some White Supremicist websites out there in which your views would meet with tumultuous applause. Ten years I worked with South and Central Americans, usually as the only female in the group of construction workers. I was treated with nothing but respect by my co-workers. I do not know of this “staring at the boobs and crotch” thing. If nothing else I noticed that the men wouldn’t look me in the eye, so maybe that’s where she got her idea. It’s sad though, to see this sort of thing said on a board that is dedicated to fighting ignorance.

In a book I was reading about women in the middle east, one of them said when she went running in the park (completely covered of course) she would have her bodyguard run ahead of her for protection. But, she finally had to make him wait in the car because he was approached several times each day during her run by men wanting sex.

And of course we all know about priests and probably believe that not all of the pedophiles were uncovered and there are probably many more who were never caught.

And we all know about men in prison.

When I worked in San Francisco, one day on the way to the office I came upon what appeared to be a young Vietnamese man running around in a parking area and tying his penis to car bumpers; then he would untie it and go on to the next. He appeared delusional.

These people, dumped into an alien culture, had a hard time adjusting. I guess this was one result.

I have no fucking clue. I highly doubt she could locate the general geographic location on a map, much less tell you jack-shit about its people or its culture.

That’s the comment that got me going. There are so many ways to interpret it, and none of them flattering. That snide inference that I must secretly be a minority or foreigner to hold such views is insulting on two levels in of itself. Firstly, the implication that if I were a minority or from another country, I would want to hide that apparently shameful fact, and secondly, that I would be less credible if I were of another race or nationality.

I’d give her credit for being honest and blatant with her prejudices, but I could tell after reading a handul of her responses that it was because she lacked the intellect necessary to attempt to conceal it with statistics and subtle slant. Even a cat knows how to rake litter over its turds. Racists who wish to play here have to learn to do the same.

Just out of curiousity, when she said that, did she mean it was too much for her to stand being married to someone from a different culture herself, or did she mean it was too much for her to stand anyone else from marrying someone from a different culture?
