Unique food combinations

Three things I like to eat that seem to be unique to me:

[ul]
[li]applesauce on mashed potatoes[/li][li]strawberry jam and sweet bologna on toast[/li][li]ham salad and Cool Ranch Doritos sandwich[/li][/ul]

I do recall “inventing” that last one some time in middle school, but the others existed earlier in my life and none of my family can recollect how they came about.

On a side note, I also used to think that I was the only one who understood the term “bunny milk”, which my grandmother coined when serving milk flavored with Nestle’s Strawberry Quik powder (the one with the bunny mascot). I recently met another person who came by the term in a similar manner.

Ya know what’s funny? I know a lot of people who do the applesauce/mashed potatoes thing (yuck, by the way!).

For me, the ones that make other people raise an eyebrow are:
[ul]
[li]dill pickles dipped in cheese sauce[/li][li]ranch dip on pizza[/li][li]hot wings sauce on cheese pizza[/li][/ul]

Ketchup as a dip for French toast.

Cool Ranch Doritos demand to be dipped in Major Grey’s chutney.

It’s a small world after all! Are they of German descent perchance?

And buffalo chicken pizza is one of my wife’s favorites.

I bring this up every time a thread like this appears:

Oatmeal made with Maggi veggie cubes. To the boiling water, add onions, mushrooms, garlic and curry powder. During the last minute or so of cooking the oats, add a TBSP of Parmesan. I’ve also been known to forego the added veggies and throw in a veggie burger instead.

I’ll add olive juice and anchovies to my Bloody Mary.

Bacon Salt is delicious on Cantaloupe.

I love potato chips dipped in cottage cheese.

Fave Baked Potato toppings:
Salsa
Tuna and cheese

I could go on…

This reminds me that Bacon Salt is also great in broccoli slaw, and I love salsa on my kids’ leftover Kraft mac n’ cheese.

My whole family loves:
Crushing saltines on Ice Cream.
Dipping Peanut Butter sandwiches in Chili!

We used to dip frito’s in Hershey’s syrup too.
Hmmm I think we all have a problem with Salty/Sweet in my family.
No wonder half of us are II Diabetic.

I love Ranch Dip on Pizza

Apply peanut butter onto a (insert your flavour) Dorito, and drizzle a few drops of maple syrup over it. YUM!!!

Sausage and marmalade sandwiches.

Hot Cross Buns - split, toasted, buttered and filled with cheddar cheese and strawberry jam.

My sister does that.
Get the HP sauce out, for god’s sake!

Wendy’s french fries dipped in a chocolate Frosty.

That is sick, disgusting and I thought I was the only person that did that!

This thread… wow.

Once I drank a cup of coffee with a Bit O’ Honey dissolved in it.

Omelettes filled with grape jelly or strawberry jam.

My father made those for me when I was a kid. The only way to get them now is to make my own omelettes; I’ve never seen a restaurant offer sweet omelette fillings.

I thought peanut butter on pretzels was weird when I first encountered it in my teens. Now you can buy pretzels prefilled with PB.

Peanut Butter and Ketchup sandwiches. I thought this up myself when I was a kid. Don’t know why but I liked it and still eat one occasionally.

Bologna, potato chip and mayonnaise sandwiches. Ooh so good!

Oscar Meyer Liversausage on cinnamon raisin bread.

Makes a great lunch!

I like to put slices of American cheese on my chicken and broccoli over rice (Chinese food). Then put tons of hot sauce over it.

I get weird looks when I mention the following:

Grilled peanut butter and Spam TM sandwiches (best after a night out drinking).

Apple sauce and cottage cheese

Peanut butter and kosher dill sandwiches

Sausage and grape jelly on a biscuit

There are probably more that would rate an “ewww” from other folks, but I can’t think of them now.
