I can’t match these. My favorite out-of-the-ordinary combination is cottage cheese slathered with black pepper.
My brother puts salt on watermelon.
My sister spreads margarine on hamburger patties.
That’s actually quite reminiscent of a classic Pennsylvania Dutch snack known as “smearkase.” (Or something like that, I may have butchered the spelling.) The original form calls for a slice of bread topped with cottage cheese/ricotta/any mild white cheese then covered with apple butter.
I used to have that all the time as a kid. Mmmm.
I eat this all the time.
I’ve done this before.
I ate these all the time in grade school.
My current favorite is a biscuit with a smoked country sausage patty and homemade garlic jelly. Delicious!
Canned pear halves with Miracle Whip dolloped on them (that’s my mom’s)
Grilled cheese with fried bologna, a fried egg, pickles and ketchup (that’s my dad’s)
I think both are gross.
Moved to Cafe Society. And for the record, ewwww.
Popcorn (unbuttered) and yogurt.
Peanut butter and potato chip sandwiches.
I’ve never heard anything so absurd.

It’s bunny juice.
I like peanut butter and raisin sandwiches.

Ya know what’s funny? I know a lot of people who do the applesauce/mashed potatoes thing (yuck, by the way!).
Are these people Hawaiian? Because, to me, that’s what poi tastes like . . . a little like mashed potatoes and a little like applesauce.
Some of my favorites:
Peanut butter and salami sandwich
Onion/garlic-flavored yogurt
Dill pickles dipped in chocolate
Mashed potatoes and anchovies
hot chocolate and sardines on the side (discovered while camping)

I once read of a coffee-based pasta sauce-it sounded delicious. anybody have a recipe.
Tartar sauce on rice.
My son once made a peanut butter and baloney sandwich that was thoroughly spew-worthy. He was a wee tot. And he liked it.
I make peanut butter (the natural, unsweetened kind) with cold cuts sandwiches all the time. Sometimes I do peanut butter & sliced serranos, or peanut butter and hot pepper flakes. It works with the sweetened stuff (like Skippy) as well, but I prefer the sugarless varieties. Peanuts go well with savory dishes (and they are used in this way in African and Asian cuisines, if not exactly in this manner.)
Peanut butter and bacon sammiches on toast! Yummmmmm!
My ex’s dad used to put vinegar on ice cream.
Normally, I’m not one for weird pizza variations, but when Pizza Hut does this promotion, I am so there! What sucks is that they make you buy a regular pizza to get one. I’ve contacted PH several times to tell them that they need to make it a permanent addition to their menu.
And dipped in Blue Cheese, not Ranch (ew)!
I don’t go to McDonald’s too often any longer, but when I do, I like to dip my french fries in sweet and sour sauce or honey (occasionally both).
But that’s not that weird. Probably not as weird as my penchant for sugaring my poached eggs or soy saucing my fried ones.
But my favorite unique food combination has to be the chocolate covered bacon made right by my apartment in Santa Cruz. Marini’s also has an ice cream flavor called “The Vegan’s Nightmare”, which is maple syrup-flavored ice cream with chocolate-covered bacon bits inside.
I tried it. And it definitely tasted like chocolate-covered bacon. That’s all I’m going to say about it.
Grilled cheese sandwiches must be accompanied by either dill pickles (on the sandwich), or ketchup (as a dip). But not both.
When I was a young boy, my father…oops, I mean, I also loved to dip my McD fries in honey.
– Plums with sharp cheese spread on them. If you like cherry pie with cheddar cheese on it you should try it, same combo of flavors.
And yet, this is my standing order at the per-slice place near work. They make a Buffalo chicken pizza, and I ask them to drizzle on a bit of ranch dressing prior to reheating. Good eating!
Huh, I thought I was the only one who did that. How many of us are there?
