Unique food combinations

Cole slaw with chili and dill pickles in black eyed peas. The SO will eat mashed potoatoes on hot dogs and the kid will dip popcorn in ketchup.

My 9th grade math teacher would mix canned tuna with apple sauce then eat it in front of the class. God that reeked.

I personally don’t do that, but fries and shakes are not that unheard of a combination. I’ve seen lots of people do it. (Same with ranch & pizza, Frank’s [how wing sauce] & pizza–I don’t think anyone would look at your weird here for doing it.) Even Angelina Jolie.

BBQ Sauce isnt too bad on some types of fish.

Black coffee with cubes of cheddar cheese melted in it. You eat the cheese and then drink the coffee.

Peppermint patties and peanut butter. An old summer camp favorite.

This seems so relevant: Domino’s Scientists Test Limits Of What Humans Will Eat

HA! That’s priceless!

Ding ding ding! Winner!
The “most unique” combination I never want to repeat is Peeps washed down with Budweiser.

That’s not very weird. Prosciutto and melon is considered a rather posh appetizer. Especially at the sort of restaurant that thinks figs, blue cheese and prosciutto make a good combo to top a pizza. (For the record, prosciutto is a great pizza topping. Figs aren’t. Blue cheese is so-so.)

When I used to work near a Bruegers Bagels, they had these wonderful onion bagels with flakes of dried onions on top. Slice in half, cover both halves with Jalapeno cream cheese, and top with hot sauce. Mmmmmm…

My grandmother used to throw together anything she could find in the fridge and eat it. I’ve seen her eat pepperoni, pickle, and peanut butter sandwiches (yes, on the same sandwich). Also pepperoni and grape jelly together.

I don’t see anything that unusual about the combo of any meat with any type of jam or fruit. Ever since I was aware of ham, it always had some kind of pineapple or maple sugar or sweet glaze on it and there’s honey-roasted turkey and such. Doesn’t seem like a stretch to pair pepperoni or sausage with jam.

I eat ketchup on my lima beans.

When I eat cereal, I mix it with plain yogurt instead of putting milk on it.

I like to scramble a couple of eggs, and while they’re cooking, pour a can of noodle soup in the pan. Sometimes I add Pace Three Pepper Salsa.

I put jalapenos on my pizza, or habeneros if I have them handy.

I had a slice of “veggie” swiss-flavored cheese on rye bread. Oh, yeah, with wasabi sauce and anchovies.

One time when I was young, maybe 10 or 11, my mom and I were out and about and I got crazy hungry. When I go home I thought it would be a great idea to make a sandwich out of a bit of everything in the fridge. I, who didn’t even like my foods to touch on the plate?? My mom was generous and didn’t make me eat the hideousness that I created (I think my father would have!).

I love butterscotch & coffee together. Butterscotch sundae with coffee ice cream is great.

One of my favorite drinks is vodka with diet root beer + a hot of most kinds of juices (especially orange or mango.)

My husband adds coffee to our chili and he makes the best chili I’ve ever had!

My wife and I used to go out to the old timey ice cream shop to order sundays and a basket of fries explicitly for the salt/sugar contradiction. Each flavor cleared the palat for another helping of the other. Inevitably, the fries are dipped directly in the sunday.

I did this with Wendy’s fries and a Frosty long ago.

If you’ve never tried mustard in your scrambled eggs, I highly recommend it. I picked that one straight from David Letterman and I’ll be damned that he was right. That’s a good combination.

My son(5) had a happy meal tonight. We usually try and get the healthiest one(plain burger, apple slices, and white milk). But I let him get whatever he wanted tonight, since we had just come from the Dr. where he got 5 shots.
He got Chicken McNuggets, and fries, and a chocolate shake. He had honey for the nuggets, and proceeded to dip all his fries in it.
It was the first I had seen that, but it didn’t look all that bad to me.

For some reason I really like Spaghetti with Pesto (sauce made with basil, nuts, olive oil and hard Italien cheese) and Asian sweet chili sauce.

A sandwich with brie or camenbert is much better if you add cranberry preserve.

Sweet Bavarian mustard goes well with most things.
