I don’t get it-it seems to me that the audience that watches JS is exactly the target that A&F wants for their overpriced clothing.
And yet, they actually want to pay the cast to wear SOMEBODY ELSE’S clothing?
Imagine what free advertising a show like this offers-if A&F had to pay fpor it, it would cost millions.
And the cast memebers are not nattractive…just a little…“slow”!:smack:
I don’t think the Jersey Shore kids reflect the wealthy, preppy demographic A&F is going for. I heard this story on the news and it made me laugh. I hope it works for all of them! Maybe Snooki should start wearing Burberry!
Merged two threads about this topic.
I sense a money-making opportunity here. For all sorts of people.
“You’se gotta nice company image, here. Be a shame should any, y’know, significant damage occur to it…”
Yeah, I can totally see why A&F wouldn’t want those half-dressed hardbodies wearing their gear. I mean, just look at their print ads- obviously they’re going for an entirely different clientele of half-dressed hardbodies.
Indeed. They cater to non-ethnic douchebags.
I think this is one of the funniest things I’ve heard in a long time. You nailed it, Alessan.
This distinction makes the whole thing make sense to me. I was confused because I place “Jersey Shore” and “A&F” in the same douchey mental pigeonhole.
I think the rule of douchebaggery is, white douchebags in A & F, ethnic douchebags in Ed Hardy.
That store smells so f-ing bad I wouldn’t go in it if they were giving the clothes away.
I don’t understand why they want to pay him anything. Why don’t they (A&F) just insist that MTV blur the logo whenever he wears it?
Eventually, the producers of the show, in order to avoid the extra work, will tell the douchebag to wear something else.
Oh, wait. Cheap publicity for A&F, maybe?
Fuck, they practically admit it’s just a PR stunt. Total jackass move.
I’m not sure who the bigger douche is, “the Situation” or A&F.
For a moment, I thought the store that sells push-up bras to seven year old girls was worried about its image
Wealthy demographic? AF is a bunch of tacky, cheap mall clothes, not anything fancy. I find it hilarious that AF is attempting to get some publicity out of this when a pair of AF sweats are no less tacky than something by Ed Hardy.
Well here’s a frankly bizarre pitch that may well be the first anti-product placement. Abercrombie & Fitch have actually offered professional moron “the Situation” money to NOT wear their clothes:
As the article notes, the ultimate irony is that A&F has long been the standard label for a particular class of men who tend to over-value their overall worthiness and / or desirability. But the cast of “the Jersey Shore” are apparently of such low class that even the average, run-of-the-mill douchebag doesn’t want to emulate them. This opens up a whole new world of marketing in which obnoxious C-list and D-list stars / has-beens are paid to remain invisible.

Too late! There are already two threads in before you, combined into one:
