What are your Top Five Tor Johnson movies?

I’m not gonna post a comprehensive list for y’all to pick from (because Obama or something) but I will post a link to his IMDB page.

My picks are:

The Meanest Man in the World
Abbot & Costello in the Foreign Legion
Bride of the Monster
Plan 9 From Outer Space
The Beast of Yucca Flats
Be sure and look for future threads where you can list your Top Five movies from Pauly Shore, Dolph Lundgren, Cindy Crawford, and Tom Green. And if I can find the time to put it together, I’ll do a “List your Top Five Recitals by Florence Foster Jenkins” thread.

List your Five Favorite Duncan “Dean” Parkin movies.

Here’s my list:

**War of the Colossal Beast
The Cyclops

**

Well, he was only in two movies (not counting clips). And he always played brain-damaged bald one-eyed giants in Bert I. Gordon movies. Talk about defining a niche! (although Glenn Langan also played a bald giant in a Gordon film, but he wasn’t one-eyed.)

Once you get typecast like that, it can be very difficult to break out into other kinds of roles.

I never realized that he did anything other than “Plan 9 From Outer Space”. That IMDB page shows how wrong I was.

Top Five John Reynolds Movies:

  1. ***Manos: the Hands of Fate ***(love Torgo)…

Strange, I’m drawing a blank after that. But it’ll come to me.

My top 5 John Cazale movies:

*The Deer Hunter
Dog Day Afternoon
The Godfather: Part II
The Conversation
The Godfather *

How many movies did Tor Johnson MAKE? I was aware of Plan 9, Beast Of Yucca Flats, and Bride Of The Monster… were there more?

The MST3K site slists:

IIRC, they suggested more in an MST3K skit, but those were only made up.

IMDB lists 48 credits. I don’t think they’re all movies.

William Lundigan!

There was a Tor in “The Hound of the Baskervilles”

…but no Johnson.

Can I count ED WOOD? It was actually George “The Animal” Steele AS Tor Johnson, but it’s the only movie that involved Tor Johnson that had a budget and good production values.

I read a bio of Bela Lugosi many years ago that mentioned how irritated Tor got at Bela’s non-stop drunken self pitying while they were filming The Black Sleep. They were roommates at a hotel during the shoot and when Bela began insisting that “I vant to die, I just vant to die”, Tor finally had enough and picked him up and hung him upside down (ala FISH CALLED WANDA) out of their hotel room window and wouldn’t let him in until he said “I vant to live!”.

That hound was a bitch
