There is this diet circulating at my work “Lose 10 pounds in three days” and it gives a very strict menu to follow for those three days. After that you eat normally for four and back on the diet for three. One of the guys here is on it and swears by it (he’s lost 20lbs). Now I have a fashion show coming up and was wondering if this might trim me down for that. I know the whole thing about gaining it all back after, but I am starting an exercise program as well. If I need to, I can post all of the meals up here. What I need to know it, will this hurt me?
It’s usually not a good idea to startle your body.
Any radical dietary change will cause you to lose 5 pounds in the first couple days; it’s usually mostly water loss. When the tide starts to come back in, the rate of weight loss slows way down. I would guess that the diet manages to sustain that water loss for a few more days.
Your body isn’t designed to make any fast changes. This might not hurt you, but it probably won’t help, either.
I see signs posted on traffic sign posts all the time touting these quick diets. Some of them are quite outragious, claiming 30 lbs. in 30 days.
One sign said, “I lost [##] pounds in [##] days. Call (703)###-####”. No mention that this was because of a diet. I was tempted to call and say I’d found her lost pounds, and ask for a reward. :D:D
Sonofoabitch, Pos—I don’t care HOW bad it is for me, please post that diet! I only wanna lose ten pounds, anyway.
I’ve tried the healthy “eat less, exercise more” routine and ya know what? It ain’t workin’! It’s time for one of those unhealthy Flockhart/Cox-Arquette plans!
Okay Eve, here ya go, important note, they say you must follow it, no substitutions. This is exactly what the sheet says:

Diet works on the chemical breakdown and is proven. Do not vary or substitute any of the above foods. Salt and pepper may be used, no other seasonings. Where no quantity is given there are no restrictions other than common sense. This diet is to be used three days at a time.
After three days of dieting you can eat normally but do not over do it. After four days or normal eating, start back on the three-day diet. You can lose up to 40lbs in a month, if you stick to it. This is a safe diet. Remember – Do not snack between meals, give at least 4 hours between breakfast and lunch and at least 5 hours between lunch and supper. You can and should drink lots of water on this diet.
There you go.
“Chemical breakdown” my Aunt Fanny. By my rough calculations that diet is 1000 calories a day, if that.
Not to mention the fact that it is disgusting enough to put you off food completely.
Yeah I know. I think the person who was passing it was getting irritated with me though.
“where’s the dairy? won’t all that caffeine dehydrate you? I hate cottage cheese, can I eat fat-free yogurt instead? Eww, no sugar on a grapefruit, what it I use sugar twin?”
He won’t answer my emails now.
When I was depressed in Jr. High I didn’t eat for two straight weeks (drank some water and stuff, though) and lost 20 lbs.

Yeah, it would probably work. However, you would lose just water. 20 lbs of it. After that 20 lbs, you would lose less.
That coffee makes you pee a lot. So, soon as you get off that plan, youll gain it all back.
4.5 litres of water weighs 10 pounds.
If you didn’t eat or drink for 3 days, you could lose this weight without exercise. Not particularly healthy or permanent. Just dehydrating.
