10 Weirdest Members of Congress,

This was the cover story in The Houston Press last week. (It’s a weekly alternative like The Village Voice or The Austin Chronicle.)

And hey! Three are from Texas!

I thought it was fairly evenhanded (but FUNNY), but if it causes contention, mods please move it.

I can’t fully express how pleased and surprised I am that there wasn’t a contender from Arkansas on the list.

OTOH, some of the people on the list are absolutely astonishing in the level of stupidity described.

The article keeps making a reference to those polled, suggesting they were also members of Congress - but it doesn’t outright state it. Did I miss something?

My 1 complaint: What’s wrong with Nickelback?

From what I could tell the author asked several members and then did decide who was the wackiest.

I believe off the record, I’m assuming. It’s an op-ed type piece, but it looked like cites were given?

What isn’t wrong with Nickelback?

And I knew the Congresswoman with the Crazy Eyes would top the list. Damn her.

Wait, where is Hank Johnson (D-GA) who was afraid of Guam tipping over and capsizing if there were too many Marines on it?

That might have been a weird thing to say, but Hank Johnson doesn’t have a reputation for saying weird things like that routinely.

And to the extent that people know what was going on with him, they probably don’t hold it against him. He was on medication for a serious illness and that medication is known to have some odd side effects.
