We lost Doug Adams. Does it seem that long ago? I had forgotten the actual date but was reminded this morning when I logged on to Fark. They have a link up to the full version of “Journey of the Sorcerer” by the Eagles.
Man, ten years. Imagine what fun he’d be having with today’s technology. I’ve got a nook and am looking for a way to make a “Don’t Panic” cover for it. Anybody seen one anywhere?
I’ve wondered about that, at the time and since then. I wonder how he would have reacted.
That pretty much sums up the demise of WTC, for me. It was hardly silent. But it was terrible. And ghastly.
Anyway, on a more cheerful note, I was as satisfied with the recent movie version of H2G2 as I ever thought I could be. I’ve said before, I thought it was well cast and well paced; I wish they’d included the towel reference, but at least we got DNA in the last shot. I do remember the audience reaction. ETA to Mahaloth: Yeah, and remember, when it was a radio drama, he was deliberately trying to make it something that could not possibly be visualized.
So my brother said that he saw Stephen Hawkins last month in a Chinese restaurant (not at the end of the universe) in Phoenix, making me fell green with envy.
“Well, at least I met Robin Williams” I said… Then he said, “of course there is that, but you forgot the one that I envy you for, you shook hands with Douglas Adams and got a signed copy of his book”.
Ah yes, there was that. It was shocking to learn a few months later that he passed away.
