- It’s already been mentioned, but I also own a Dremel.
- I also own the drill press attachment for the aformentioned Dremel.
- Last night I bought “Starship Troopers” on DVD.
- When I found a perfectly functional Weller soldering iron rig in the scrap heap at work (meaning it would go to landfill and I was free to take it home) I got so excited I yelled.
- The computer I’m typing this on was built out of parts pulled from that scrap heap, and soldered together with the soldering iron in #4.
- I ate “Star Wars” cereal for breakfast this morning.
- I found a technical inaccuracy on the back of the “Star Wars” cereal box. I had to resist the urge to write a letter.
- The top four shows my tivo is set to record are: Invader Zim, Enterprise, Stargate SG-1, and Cowboy Bebop.
- In order to clean up my room for my SO, I had to clear out no fewer than four robots from her half of the bed. (Were there a list of cool things about your SO, #1 of mine would be that she bought me two of those robots)
- I actually checked local building codes when building a deck for a friend.
- I want to be able to play a musical instrument, but I really, really suck at making music of any kind.
-
My first concert was Menudo.
-
I don’t drink coffee or beer.
-
I don’t have cable tv.
-
I hate shopping. So if I find something I like, I buy it in every color it comes in.
-
I love really bad teen movies from every decade. (“Girls Just Want To Have Fun” is a personal favorite.)
-
I re-enact musicals in my apartment.
-
I really like tuna helper.
-
I haven’t posted here in many many months.
-
I skipped to the post section without reading everyone’s answers.
I’m cool because I’m vegetarian? When did that happen?
Wow. I’m respected for my trade.
Let me tell you, I’m anal-retentive with my coding. It must be properly tabbed, capitalized (that’s optional, some people prefer small caps), and correct coding.
hehe. I’m glad I’m not the only one out there.
(and might I note the irony in that I’m having so much trouble with this VB code?)
Well, here goes…
-
I am ALWAYS even on Friday and Saturday nights, in bed by 11 pm and most of the time it is just after 9 pm.
-
People say I’m like a phone book. I know all office extensions at work and all the businesses in town. Even patient names and numbers. (Deliver me, the numbers won’t go away!!! I try to forget and can’t)
-
I am so organized and anal about everything, I could tell a total stranger where the to find almost anything in my home.
-
I am totally, and absolutely in love with Jack Nicholson!! (I’m 26, my friends think I’m crazy)
-
I eat RED meat. Love it, crave it!!!
-
I don’t eat chocolate or fish. Seafood is ok, just not fish (specifically catfish, UGHHH!).
-
I refuse to tailgate and ALWAYS use my blinker. People say I put it on when I * think * about turning or changing lanes. They say I am overly cautious, but hey, with driving I don’t think that’s possible.
-
I despise odd numbers, except 5 and 7.
-
I hate left hand turns.
-
I like the oldies station, and can sing most of the songs. I mean 50’s and 60’s. I have loved it since junior high.

Well, I live in an EXTREMELY liberal hippie university town. Downtown today, I saw Michael Stipe, and I ran into Ralph Nader a few months back. It’s a froufrou little granola town. I LOVE it here, but if you’re not a vegetarian, then you’re not really part of the “scene”.
The A.P. Biology teacher at the school where I teach runs the local brewfest, the art teacher grows her own pot, and half the people who come into my fave local coffee shop bring their own organic milk. I ain’t one of them.

5. I think “Open Arms” by Journey, rather than being a beautiful ballad about devotion, is a steaming pile of rhinocerous feces - radioactive rhinocerous feces, which can kill from eighty miles away by causing watermelon-sized lesions on the eardrums. I have been known to run all the way into my house from the other side of the back yard to change the station or hit the ‘NEXT’ button when it’s come on my stereo.
The rest of them make some sense, but this one is confusing. I don’t see how NOT liking a Journey song is considered uncool. About all I know of Journey is that they almost a cliche in talk show monolouges for being a crappy band, and and they are pulled out whenever a joke is needed about bad music (see also: Vanilla Ice).
Oh, hell.
- I sing along with the radio in the car and sometimes I get so into pretending I am a rock star that as I sing along, I narrate my very own VH1 Behind The Music episode.
- I also correct the grammar in songs (for example, in the song Light My Fire, I sing the line “you know they are a liar” as “you know that they are liars.”
- I LIKE Journey.
- And Meat Loaf. The singer and the dinner.
- I have never seen X-Files, Buffy, Friends, Survivor, etc.
- I will never ever eat sushi or organ meats.
- I think meeting famous people mkes me cool by association.
- I talk to the computer screen.
- I think the original Star Trek series is drek, but I can identify TNG episodes in seconds.
- My socks MUST match my shirt.
- I wear the most common bra size in the world, so I COULD buy classy ones or sexy ones, but I prefer old lady white cotton bras.

- I’ve played in and won many Magic: The Gathering and Buffy the Vampire Slayer CCG (Collectable Card Game) tournaments.
- I’ve loved Sixpence None the Richer since the day their first CD was released and think they are the best band ever. I’ve seen them more times in concert then I can recall, and chatted with them all on several occassions.
- I still have a huge fanboy crush on Leigh Nash (see #2) and hope something bad happens to her husband so I can have her.
- I still have every Star Wars figure from the original Kenner run and refuse to part with them.
- I lost my virginity at the age of 23 to a girl I met on the internet. I’m now 27 and don’t know the total number of girls I’ve been with (somewhere in the twenties).
- I don’t know how to play Craps
- I used to preach to my friends about the perils of alcohol, and now I can recommend beers from every country.
- I also hate sushi
- My job consists of monitoring NT, Unix and old Mainframe servers, and I love working in the IT field, even though I have a bachelor’s degree in Vocal Music Performance.
- I’m a hopeless romantic half the time and a cynical ass the other half.
- I own the first 2 Spice Girls CDs and tried explaining to my friends how great they were. True, it was vapid pop music, but they made no apologies and did it well, as oppossed to today’s top 40 BS.
- I almost extensively listen to girl bands, and have driven 5 hours to see Sleater Kinney in concert.
- One of my best friends is an insanely hot stripper, and I did not have sex with her because I thought it might ruin our friendship (I’m an idiot).
- I paint Citadel minatures and proudly display them at the local hobby store.
- I weekly DM role-playing games like Vampire: the Masquerade and Call of Cthulhu.
- I live in Kansas and am a huge hockey fan. No one else in this town cares about that sport. The local sports bar changed all the TVs in the joint from the Olympic Gold Medal USA / Canada game to a local KU basketball game against un-ranked Nebraska, and I was the only one who got upset.
- I love my parents very much, and see them every week.
-
I did Latin in high school, not for a language requirement (I was taking French at the same time). I took both Latin and Greek in college–I majored in Classics, along with only two other people in my graduating class. RaCha’ar and Katisha, thanks for that nice “I’m not alone” feeling.
-
I’ve been known to attempt other languages just for fun (most difficult so far, IMHO, is Japanese. Admittedly, that’s arguably not just for fun, since I’m living in Japan).
-
Unlike some other posters here, I love sushi–but I never tried it until I moved to Japan.
-
I also like hamburgers, fried food, beer, etc.
-
I’m not much of a partyer per se (though I am an inveterate beer-drinker).
-
Other people can find more “reasons I’m not cool” than I can.

Ahh, Athens… do they still have that Alpaca Shearing Festival going on just outside of town?

Where in Kansas? I’m in Topeka–beat that for uncool.
And who’s the stripper? I know a coupla gals who work at the Bird in Lawrence…
- I cry when listening to Barry Manilow
- Same goes for John Denver
- I love reading magazines like Woman’s Day or Family Circle, and sometimes I cut out recipes that I never use.
- I rarely watch “regular” TV, instead, I watch Star Trek reruns about 4 hours a night (2 hrs on Sci Fi, 2 hrs on TNN)
- I can identify celebrity voiceovers in commercials or documentaries and enjoy pointing them out to anyone in the room (example: “Hey, that voice is Bruce Willis!”)
- I love Oprah, her show, her magazine, her website, her books.
- I also love to point out actors that have “been in something else” when I am watching movies–“Hey, there’s the guy from The West Wing!” or something similar. I’m sure it gets on people’s nerves, but I can’t help it.
- I am a maniacal fan of NFL football. I have season tickets to my favorite team, the Kansas City Chiefs, and I don’t even live in Kansas City. I feel slightly nauseous when they lose.
- I (possibly rather obviously) love all things Hello Kitty, and have my bathroom completely decorated in HK. When I am bored I go on ebay to see what Hello Kitty items are for sale. I hyperventilate when I see HK products in a store and nearly faint when I run across an entire HK store (yes, they do exist!!)
- I am the only female I know that completes several tournament brackets during the NCAA Men’s Basketball tournament, and refers to them frequently during the games.
- I love sending snail mail to all my friends and family
Wow…I thought smoking, drinking and eating red meat were considered totally uncool.
Additions to my list:
12. I don’t play any RPG or video games
13. I don’t own a single pair of sneakers and haven’t in about 15 years
14. I love big hair
15. I actually read books for pleasure
16. I, too, own a Dremel (OMGs, it’s a trend! )
17. I hate Friends, Seinfeld, and Dave Barry
18. I not only remember that 42 is the Answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything, I also remember how that answer was arrived at.

Probably. I know there’s a Llama farm in Winterville, and this being Athens, it wouldn’t surprise me. But again, I’m not cool enough to know for sure.

I think I would have SO much fun there - running around with a big, drippy, rare T-bone hanging out of my back pocket.
Oh, and isn’t ALL milk organic? (of, relating to, or derived from living organisms) Activists make the world a fun place to be!

Had a little catching up to do, did ya? That you notched off twenty-something in four years: cool. That you felt you needed to boast about it: Well, that makes you just a regular guy, so you’re still cool.
1.All I want for my birthday this year is a pair of tapshoes.
2.Now that I finally figured out how to tame my unruly mane of curls, I refuse to try any of the straightening techniques the teenagers I work with offer me.
3.I still think bleaching sections of my naturally black hair to camoflauge the grey hair I have coming is a better option than coloring the greys.
4.To the chagrin of my kids, I sing along with the muzak piped into the grocery store.
5.I finally started a lj, wrote a couple of entries, and haven’t written anything for a week. Still don’t think I’m interesting enough to even have a lj.
6.I routinely find bruises on my person and no idea how they got there, other than the obvious that I am a total klutz but years of practice have taught me to play if off and not fall down. But I can run into an empty cardboard box and get a bruise from it while the box is completely undamaged.
7.I am still frothing at the mouth, waiting for the next Harry Potter book to be published.
8.I am toying with the idea of asking my hubby to videotape me so I can send it in as an audition for the Harry Potter movie series.
9.I had and wore my Harry Potter glasses all month at work to promote the presale of the DVD and tape. If I had a cape, I’d have dressed up like a character on the weekends just because my work asked me to.
10.I read about 70% of the threads around here and only reply to about 1/2% of 'em. Again, I’m not witty or interesting enough to bother to post.
