12 Great White Days of Christmas

Yeah it’s late, so what? In Bob and Doug McKenzie’s version of the 12 Days of Christmas, on day 6 their true love gave to them “six packs of two-four.” What the hell is a “two-four”? Online sources indicate it’s a 24-count case of beer but in the context of the song that doesn’t make a lot of sense. They get a pack of six 24-count cases of beer? Not that they would not thoroughly enjoy such a gift…

I think you already answered correctly. A 144 pack of beers, it must be.
Having grown up in Ontario, I can attest to the fact that a ‘two-four’ was slang for a case of beer with 24 bottles in it.
I was surprised when I moved to Vancouver, because here, a case of beer is a mere 12 bottles. Of course my home town ‘Brewers Retail’ store had parking for close to 100 cars, and the entire building was a giant fridge. All beer simply came cold all year round. Which reminds me of Vancouver’s other annoying tradition, which is all beer is warm in the store. Oh, you can get cold beer, but you have to go to ‘off-sales’ (usually a bar, or a ‘Cold Beer & Wine Store’), and pay almost double the price.
