17,000 posts full of shit...yeah YOU, handy

Tons of times.

What, if I may ask, have you done with your thirteen thousand posts?

I don’t remember many that were positive.

So, hey, the same could be said of yourself, only with more volume, right?

In the meantime, if you gotta beaf me with me, start a thread.

You’re right Q.E.D.

And as much as I think you’re an idiot for backing Ilsa’s comment, my complaint was directed more towards Ilsa herself (Or himself, whatever the fuck it is).

Not that I think you’re right or anything, you’re wrong… and an idiot.

And, just to throw it out here, I’ll give anybody money to show me otherwise… does memory = speed?

Nada. Nope. Never (Well, maybe before, but you know) Ever.

Prove me wrong, doorknobs (Ilsa!)

What’s worse, that kind of behavior or consistently inaccurate or false information?

Moo.

I wonder if Handy likes pie?

IN WHAT FRIGGIN’ CONTEXT, YOUR HOLINESS?

IT INCREASES SWAP SPEED AND DECREASES LAG TIME!!!

It does not increases CLOCK SPEED or PROCESSING SPEED, but it MAKES A BOX RUN FASTER DUE TO NOT HAVING TO WAIT ON THE VMM!!!

What about that is so hard to understand? :wally

If you’re referring to me, I’d like you to demonstrate a pattern of “consistently inaccurate or false information”, please. If you’re not, then just ignore this.

I have. Twice.

That second site you refer to is awesome…

Hahahaha. 8 megs? NO SHIT upgrading your memory would make your computer faster. Moving past a 486 would too. How old is that reference, anyways?

But that’s all pointless, as the problem you and your little buddy Ilsa have is not looking at the original post. Astroboy14 has 512 Megs of RAM.

Not 256. Not 128. Not 8 (Snort!). 512.

The chance Astroboy is going into the paging file enough that upgrading, no, doubling his RAM to over a Gigabyte in size, on a system that can’t handle RAM hungry applications to begin with, is absurd (Let alone that Windows 98 won’t work with over 512 MB, as the OP’er attested too).

Adding RAM at that point is not only fruitless and a complete waste of hard earned money, IT WON’T FUCKING WORK.

And I’m specious of anyone who says they currently need more than 512 Megs of RAM, unless their running some incredibly hard-core applications, like video editing or something. It simply isn’t needed, is a waste of time, and isn’t going to make your computer one bit faster.

So yeah, the blanket statement that Ilsa said in that thread, that more memory = faster computer is wrong, or at best, misleading. And in my opinion, that’s far more inaccurate a statement that anything Handy said in that thread.

I run ProTools SE on 98 box. It must have AT LEAST 512MB. Upgrade to the XP vers. and you need over 700. You don’t know the OP didn’t need this.

My post was a generalization, inaccurate in many cases.

You, sir, are an asshole.

Adding RAM won’t make your computer faster. Sorry Ilsa. It may speed up the way in which it is working, but it doesn’t speed shit up.

Psst, Cnote…

1024 is a gigabyte…

Sam

I UNDERSTAND THAT!!! How many times must I state that it decreases the lag time of processes you are running due to less need for swap space swapping.

Nowhere have I said that more RAM would help out astroboy in his case. You made the blanket statement that more RAM never equates to more speed, and I said that was bullshit and proved it. You assumed I was talking about that one particular case, but nowhere did I say that. I never said that more RAM always means more speed. And don’t forget that many video cards use shared memory, so for graphics intensive applications, more RAM can improve performance there, too.

I’ll say this again: in the linked thread someone asked of the OP why they needed 512 MB of RAM, and Ilsa said for more speed. Could he/she have qualified it better? Sure. But it wasn’t an incorrect or inaccurate response. Merely incomplete at worst.

Good now let this thread die already.

I agree. I’m done here.

Neither. If you’re referring to handy, I’m not defending him-I’m sick of him as much as anyone else is here.

Cnote, however, is also an ass, from what I’ve seen.

shrugs

It shouldn’t matter to whom I’m referring - even if it’s a amalgam of people.

It should be plain that the more harmful of the behaviors would be the latter, not the former. That is why it’s the worse of the two.

Perhaps not, but in an earlier post, you seemed to have a specific individual in mind. I’m sure there are others beside me who wonder who you meant. Tell or don’t, it’s all the same to me.

I agree with you that someone “consistently” posting false or misleading information in GQ would be egregious, but to be honest, I don’t see anyone doing that with “alarming frequency”. If you can refute that, well, please do.

Geeze! I just wanted to be able to more quickly zone and load more character models when playing EverQuest! And, yes, more RAM would have allowed me to do that…

As I said in my OP, it was an impulse buy; I didn’t bother to check whether my OS would handle the extra RAM.

Wow. I was right to begin with. Jesus Christ. What is with some people?
