18th Annual Super Bowl Early Picks Thread

As a Browns fan, I’m thrilled with this season. This team went winless just three years ago, and now they had a chance almost all the way against the KC Chiefs, who are a strong contender for another championship. They improved all season long. Watch out for them next year.

Only two people left with the Buccaneers (one with the Chiefs and one with the Bills), so if they win we’ll already know our winner.

So how’s the scoring work? Is it more important to pick the winner, or the contestants in the Super Bowl?

Yes, it is more important to pick both teams.

Two New Englanders. What a surprise.

Forgot to post the tiebreakers:

  1. Picked both teams, got winner correct
  2. Picked both teams, got winner wrong
  3. Picked winner correctly
  4. Picked loser correctly
  5. Closest to individual scores
  6. Closest to predicted margin of victory

So yes, if you get both teams you’re ahead of anyone who only picked one team.

I see I’m one of the three who are “dead in the water.”

Told you I don’t know anything about football!

Shouldn’t there be one or two other options between #4 and #5? What happens if someone picks the AFC or NFC champ to win the Super Bowl, but they lose? (Or they pick a team to lose the Super Bowl, but they win?)

That’s what #3 and #4 are. But 3 and 4 only matter if no one picks both teams in the Super Bowl, which won’t happen this year since every possibility is covered.

If it makes you feel better - even though they didn’t work out, your picks still had the faint sheen of reality to them. Your cohorts in the “dead in the water group”…not so much.

What? No sheen of reality in my picking the Bills over the Redskins (yeah, I know) in the Super Bowl?

Yeah, I guess you’re right.

My job just got really easy here.

I’m guaranteed a podium.

Well there goes my GB pick – thanks fer nothin’ Packers, lol!

For this competition I want the Chiefs, but in my heart I am rooting for the Bills.

Don’t forget, if it goes Buccaneers/Bills, you’ll be tied with everyone that has the Bills in it.

RIght, of course. I still want the Bills in my heart.

In one weekend I went from totally in to totally out. :frowning:

Um, did I win?

You’re the only one with Bucs/Chiefs so I imagine you did. Well done.
