1964 Gomez and Morticia Addams: Horniest television couple to date?

I remember Morticia speaking French, Austin’s eyes lighting up, him kissing his way up her arm and then one of his model trains careening off the track and blowing up. Wonder what that could mean…

The Keatons on Family Ties were known to get quite friendly, often to the disgust of their children.

They debuted a year after the Addamses, but Oliver and Lisa Douglas on Green Acres went at it in a way to embarrass even Arnold the Pig. Nice to see, in a distinctly middle-aged married couple, too!

Did it go through a tunnel before it derailed and exploded?

Although nowhere near the realm of sexiness as the Addams’, Dharma & Greg were another couple where their sexuality was overt and was a large part of their storylines in many if not most episodes.

Haven’t seen the Addamses, but Hill Street Blues’ Capt. Frank Furillo and P.D. Joyce Davenport were a hot item. Scenes of them in various moments of domestic intimacy closed out many an episode.

Joyce Davenport may have been the hottest woman on TV at that time.

Them being married was a big clue. I’m fairly certain when they went home they didn’t sleep in twin beds  .

Overshadow schmoverschmadow.

Firstly, “as a single” puts the Kirk example in another ballpark but for the sake of conversation we’ll allow both cases in the same ballpark for now.

Gomez and Morticia appreciated, indulged in, and celebrated sex.

James Kirk’s sexual adventures were less about sex, in any truly appreciative sense, and more about expressing his manliness. It’s no so much that Kirk enjoyed sex, it’s that he enjoyed getting laid.

And I highly doubt he was all that great in the sack.
What he was great at was seduction, but as soon as his naked pelvis actually made contact with alien labia, his pendulous ball-sack slapping against alien ass cheeks, it was “mission accomplished”.
He surely blew his load quickly and never made a woman come in his life.

This was far from a revolutionary depiction of sexuality for mainstream entertainment in the sixties.
Gomez and Morticia, I reiterate, truly appreciated, indulged in, and celebrated sex.

True, intercourse was never shown on the television show but, from the sexuality that is depicted, there is sufficient cause to deduce that intercourse was preceded by long sessions of foreplay. And they understood the brain as a sexual organ, when their daily routines required that they postpone sex while attending to mundane daily obligations Gomez and Morticia would be engaging in foreplay in their minds, with their speech, and with their eyes.

Both would have been masters at oral sex (James T. Kirk, probably never even attempted to give a woman oral sex “Eeew! But she pees from there!”). For Gomez and Morticia, intercourse would not have been confined to a bed, and would be practiced in an exciting variety of positions. Morticia would have come every time, and more than once- and not because Gomez was a stud (though he was), but because she was truly in touch with her womanhood and knew how to pleasure herself.

Intercourse would always have been followed by an extended period of afterplay. Do you think James T. Kirk even understood the concept of afterplay??? No way. James Kirk just wanted to get his rocks off and that was it. James Kirk at best satisfied only the basest definition of “sexual being”.

But, but, but all that is because they were in love! If it weren’t for the fact that they were in love, they’d have been just like James Kirk! Not a chance. Yes, Gomez and Morticia were in love. Yes, being in love added greatly to their sex life. But it was far more than being in love, Gomez and Morticia were extraordinarily sexual.

Compare another couple very much in love, and contemporay to the Addams, Rob and Laura Petri.

Now, I’ll be the first to admit, Laura Petrie was one of the tastiest pieces of ass ever to walk across a television screen. However, Rob and Laura’s sex life would have been a joke compare to that of Gomez and Morticia. Like Gomez and Morticia, Rob and Laura were in love but simply being in love would not have been enough to have given them an adventurous sex life.

Rob and Laura, I’ve no doubt, had sex almost exclusively at nighttime almost always without fully removing their pajamas, always missionary, and never anywhere other than in a bed. It would have been a regularly scheduled routine and mundane fifteen minutes, then Rob would set the alarm clock to wake him to go to work in the morning.
No, Gomez and Morticia were extraordinary and for their time revolutionary.
Reading through the Thread . . .

Yeah, Mike and Gloria enjoyed their sex life, they probably even engaged in afterplay. I don’t think they’d have been particularly adventurous though.

Lucy and Ricky had sex, but they weren’t especially sexual.

I won’t address the Munsters.

I don’t know the Oblongs, but since the Oblongs arrived 40 years after the Addams, I’d say they can’t compete for revolutionary status even if they can compete for sexuality.

Cliff and Claire Huxtable did enjoy each other sexually, but Claire could be turned off quite easily. Also, she at times would use sex to manipulate Cliff- something Morticia would never stoop to.

Steven and Elise Keaton definitely had a healthy attitude towards sex. Elise owned her own sexuality. They proabably used toys, explored tantra. However, I’m sure they often had to schedule sex- which takes some of the excitement away. Gomez and Morticia had they advantage that, not only did Gomez work from home, but they had three other adults in the house who could be responsible for the children whenever Gomez and Morticia neede some alone time. Also, it took us 20 years to get from the Addams to the Keatons and, still, the Keatons barely are able to compare.

I never watched Green Acres. Since they were contemporary to the Addams, it would be an interesting comparision. I consider Eve to be among the most trusted sources on the SDMB, so I’m interested in hearing more about Oliver and Lisa.

Dharma and Dharma might have blown the Addams out of the water, but Greg was pretty inhibited and a bit of a square- his contrast to Dharma was the whole point of the show. He enjoyed having sex with his wife but she often needed to coax him out of his shell and he was always reluctant to try new things. Also, they came 30 years after the Addams. Still, Dharma and Greg and Steven and Elise are the best contenders so far.

I never watched Hill Street Blues. Can’t comment.

The Cunninghams on “Happy Days” were known to “get frisky.”

Red and Kitty from That 70’s Show, although they were inconsistent in their lustiness. There were many scenes where they’d realize the kids were out of the house and they’d look at each other and run upstairs. There was another episode where Red took Kitty parking. Although, Red was not affectionate to Kitty when other people were around and did not want to talk about sex you still got the idea that they enjoyed each other. However, a later episode went against this when Kitty wanted to spice things up and left a “Joy of Sex” box for Red to find and he was resistant to learning or trying anything new (but he later gave in).

Granted they still would not rival Gomez and Morticia.

In the March '65 episode, check out the reflection off Uncle Fester’s head.

Just remembered another couple I wanted to mention in my very long Post#29.

Jeffrey and Anne Brookes, the next door neighbors of the Ropers.

She was definitely one of the more sexual wives on T.V., and he was pretty damn horny. However, like Claire Huxtable, Anne would sometimes use sex to manipulate Jeffrey.

Again, Morticia wouldn’t stoop to that.

Zank you, dahling!

The Douglases shared a large bed and were frequently seen waking up all tangled in each other; they engaged in a lot of “schmooching,” and every so often they would find a “reason” to retire to the bedroom. Little hints were dropped as to why they put up with each other’s idiocyncracies, with much eyebrow-wagging and nudging, then a quick retreat to the bedroom . . .

Does that make this one of them trainwreck threads you hear so much about?

Peg Bundy was very sexual.

Of course the joke was usually that Al was not. But, I’ll toss 'em in since I’ve always thought that this show was very underrated.

Hal and Lois could be pretty passionate at times, but still not in the same way as Gomez and (knees buckle) Morticia.

Anyone remember a 70s comedy called The Dumplings, with Geraldine Brooks and James Coco? Whenever their pudgy bodies touched, they would get all hot.

Still didn’t touch the Addams, though.

Quick poll for men: Carolyn Jones, or Angelica Huston?

Likewise for women: John Astin, or Raul Julia?

You tease. How about at least a broken link to a vidcap?

Carolyn Jones, without any question or hesitation. She purty. Angelica, not so much.
