So you’re giving it more consideration after all? Good for you!
No, I’m pointing out the complete fraud.
I was neither slapped silly nor am I fuming. I am, however, utterly unsurprised to find you as OP of this thread.
Clearly the guy was injured in a street fight.
Very bad aliens my ass.
It’s just how they say “hello, friend.”
It’s not their fault we don’t have photothermite-laser-resistant hyperskin!
Dibbs, what you’re not getting is that all the derision you’re receiving here is exactly the result of a great deal of serious and careful consideration. We have considered the question of aliens very carefully, because as you say, it is an extremely important question. And the conclusion is that if they have ever visited us, they have left no record of it.
Which, really, is not very surprising. If there are aliens capable of visiting us, then their technology must be advanced far beyond our own. They either want us to be aware of them, or they don’t. Either way, their technology would easily be advanced enough that they could ensure that outcome. If they didn’t want us to detect them, we’d see nothing at all: No blurry photos of flying saucers, no mangled remains of livestock, nothing. And if they did want us to detect them, then they’d just transmit on every TV station at once.
People may not be aware that the Sojourner Mars Lander was equipped with flensing knives, rotating “doorknob-hole” saws, forceps, scissor-blades, and other equipment for eviscerating any small Martian animals it might have come across. Vivisection of alien life forms is the standard practice in planetary exploration.
(Why does this shoe-polish smell so bad?)
I guarantee you the old man who used to life next door to me was an extraterrestrial.
I’m not sure what planet though.
Dibbs, your refusal to reply with evidence you suggest you have, combined with the tone and nature of your responses to people questioning you on it, make it very difficult to take this thread seriously. It was already misplaced, as you didn’t seem to be asking a question.
Until convinced otherwise, I think this best belongs in The Pit. Thread relocated.
Several mistakes buddy: 1. “We”: I’ve mostly kept quiet about people implying they speak for others, but now I speak-out – it’s wrong in nearly any context. a. “We have ‘considered’ the question of aliens carefully.” Did YOU look over the shoulders of others to see that they did do that? b. What constitutes “carefully”? c. No disrespect, but, did the others (that you presumably speak for) appoint you to be their spokesperson? 2. “And the ‘conclusion’ is … they have left no record of it.” a. Have you looked under every bush in the world … or on every square foot of ocean floor? (In Philosophy 101 one learns that one can’t prove a negative, thus saying you’ve “concluded” an examination of this type is a joke.) b. One can dismiss all the thousands of videos of UFOs over the decades as not being “proof,” but technically those, many of them, are indeed unidentified flying objects.
I don’t have the desire to pick to pieces point by point your “reasoning” with the rest of it, but will say that Stanford University grad, Linda Molten Howell (sp?) has lots of photos and first hand accounts of level-headed bright folks that have been witness to or in some way involved with the phenomena should you care to check out her Earth Files website.
Btw, it doesn’t really bother me that some folks around here are more into attacking me with their silly comments the way they do, because I’m a big boy, plus, I’m well aware of something very basic about Life, and that is THERE IS FAR MORE TO THIS STRANGE WORLD THAN WHAT MEETS THE EYES.
As opposed to flying objects that are seen by observers but are not regarded as UFOs in the familiar sense that one normally thinks of UFOs.
Dibbs, in the quote you posted, “we” refers to the SDMB community. Many, many members here have examined, both on the SDMB and in their personal and professional lives, the evidence of alien visitation.
Chronos is exactly right. There’s a reason we haven’t found the ET equivalent of even so much as a gum wrapper or cigarette butt. Either they haven’t been here (a view I share), or they are so advanced they simply can hide any and all evidence of their visits.
As for Linda Moulton Howe, she’s a sensationalist. Every bit of cattle mutilation can be explained by purely natural means, i.e., scavengers, as has been posted previously in this thread.
There is no reason to resort to supernatural explanations, ET, conspiracy theories, or otherwise complicate the situation when a perfectly natural, and relatively simple, solution will suffice.
Really? Then why open this thread?
I look at all the sarcastic comments that I’ve endured since posting my friendly post along with the accompanying article. And yet a Mod actually has the balls to come in and say that s/he doesn’t like my “tone.”
WHAT A FUCKING JOKE!
Alright, fine, chalk up one black mark on the legalized weed pros and cons.
I thought it was a compelling article about something rather strange and scary; yet “some” of you act as if I said or suggested that it was an open and shut case proving that it really was done by someone from another dimension.
Am I being unreasonable to simply put it out there for discussion? (Sorry if my “tone” isn’t kiss-ass enough.)
As I intimated, people here can be very serious about fighting ignorance. Your OP said the eyes were “lasered” out. How do you know? Why would you immediately jump to UFOs (the bad kind, whatever that means) instead of seeking a more rational, natural explanation?
Actually, what I said was that your tone was part of the reason I wasn’t able to take your thread seriously. I don’t believe I commented on liking it or not liking it.
At any rate, if you wish to discuss moderator actions, please feel free to start an ATMB thread. Thanks.
Well gee motherfucker, why not open it!
Weed wouldn’t do this. Dibbs’ views are obviously the result of the abuse of heavy drugs, in massive doses over generations. We are talking weapons-grade batshit here.
