$2,996.23 For Every Man, Woman And Child In Iraq And Afghanistan

According to an article on CNN today, “Congress has so far sent the White House about $160 billion for Iraq and Afghanistan.”

And according to the CIA world book, the population of Iraq is 24,683, 313 and the population of Afghanistan is 28,717,213 for a total of 53,400,526 people.

So, if my math is correct, and you divide the total population of 53,400,526 into $160 billion, that comes out to a total of $2,996.23 for every man, woman and child in both countries.

My guess is, we aren’t done pouring money in over there yet either.

As this is MPSIMS, feel free to make any comment you want as to the amount, the method of usage and the value, dollar for dollar.

I did a similar calculation back in the 'Nam days. I don’t remember the exact amount but it came to like ten thousand dollars/S. Vietnamese per year.

So I suggested a different approach. Throw consumer goods at them. Lots and lots of stuff. Give them all a Honda scooter, a TV set, clothes, a couple years worth of food, etc. Just flood the country with gifts. How was the VC going to beat that?
