Now it’s time to tell us about the best, the worst, the lamest take-offs on the 2001 title you saw this year. I am thankful that they were not as omnipresent as I feared they would be, but there were still plenty of them out there to amuse, amaze and appall us.
Best one I saw was for the local Humane Society. “2001: A Spay Odyssey” with a rather startled looking cat in a space suit. Most obvious/lamest was our local gay pride march theme: “2001: A Pride Odyssey” with a little cartoon spaceman with a rainbow flag blowing in the breeze (breeze? in space?). Admittedly I may be a little prejudiced against this one because I worked on the organizing committee that puts on this parade years ago and they were continually lame and stupid so I’m predisposed to think of their every idea as lame and stupid, but I really thought this idea was lame and stupid.
