2006 Weight Loss Club - March

Of course! The more the merrier!

And there’s nothing like the impending threat of skimpier clothes to provide a little incentive, eh?

Another good week. I saw some tiny movement on the scales. Hooray.

I am worried about next week. I start a new job on Monday and will begin the week by traveling. That means that I won’t have access to where I work out, will probably be exhausted from long days and will be exposed to fast food while traveling.

Also when I return I will have an hour commute, so that means that I will have two hours of my day used up in driving. I fear that I will get out of the habit of working out.

I plan to join a gym up there and work out on my lunch hour, but we’ll wait until I get settled to do that.

Down 13.5 since January 1. Yeah, that’s 3 pounds in 8 days. I’m pleased, but still frustrated at my plateau.

Still hovering around minus-22.

I’ve noticed recently that my Levi’s have a tendency to (attempt to) fall down. (I mentioned this to my ex-fiancée, and she said I’m a ‘flat butt guy’. Who knew?) So yesterday I tried on my kilt. I got it in the around 25 years ago when I was 18 pounds lighter than I am now. I pulled it out of storage a few months ago to discover that it was too small. When I tried it on yesterday, it was a little snug – but I could wear it!

I’ve moved bedrooms. I’ve been sleeping in the middle-sized bedroom, but I’ve decided I should sleep in the big one. So I moved my dresser. Of course I had to take the drawers out. I found another pair of Levi’s in a drawer in a size two inches smaller than the ones I’m currently wearing. They fit about like the current pair did last year. And I’ve also gone down a size in my shirts.

I fit into my Irvin jacket, and am about ten pounds away from fitting into my late-mother’s late-husband’s G-1 jacket (or ‘The Dead Man’s Jacket’, as I call it) and my Patroille de France A-2 jacket.

So clothes are fitting. Good sign.

Getting frustrated.

Need some help with this. I’ve noticed in the last couple of weeks I’ve gained a pound oe two. This in despite of running 20 miles a week and not eating terribly bad.

Right now I’m 5"9 and weigh 185 pounds. My BMR should be 1900, though it launches up to 2700 or so with my exercise level (http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/) Most days I eat between 1800-2300 calories. And most foods are low fat (though I have been having some beer lately)

What gives?

Weight watchers will tell you that for your weight, you should be eating somewhere in the neighbourhood of 1200 calories; add in eating the calories you burn in running. I don’t know how long you exercise or at what intensity, so I can’t really tell you; however, based on what you say above you should eat another 400 to maintain the deficit.

(In WW speak, you should eat 24 points plus half of the calories you burn through exercise.)

heh, yeah there’s that too. I have the lead role in a play at the beginning of May, though, and that’s where that deadline comes from. I want to look decent in the little short black dress.

I was down 3 lb and saw a new low on the scale, and then gained a pound. I’ve been pretty plateaued (is that a real word? it has lots of vowels.) for a little while and I hope I’m actually going to get somewhere now.

I think I’m going to add some cardio in the mornings… I already do pilates and some ballet/flexibility stuff, but that’s not really the most efficient way to burn calories. I’m going to start getting up an hour earlier and taking my dog for a run.

That website says my BMR is 1188… sounds ridiculous to me.

Ginger how would i know how much weight watchers says I should eat? I’m just curious. is there a website or something somewhere? or a formula that i could do myself?

I’m a day late with my weekly weigh-in this week: I was up working at the annual crossword tournament all weekend. I didn’t bother to try to diet while I was there – someone brought some truly insanely good chocolate from Switzerland (oh my lord it was good), plus I had a couple of handfuls of potato chips with lunch Saturday; oh, and I had cake for dessert two dinners out of three. (Fresh fruit for the third – god I love fresh pineapple!) But other than that … No, seriously, I was pretty good, considering all the meals were buffets.

This week: -1. YTD: - 10.

I am now under 200 pounds for the first time this millennium. (I quit smoking in March of '99, and that’s when I gained a fuck of a lot of weight.)

Yay me! Yay us!

Just found out that I will for sure be away three days this week. Luckily I got up early to work out and have a work out in for Monday already. That means that even if I can’t find a way to work out down there, I should only miss one day - tomorrow. In theory, I can work out Wednesday evening when I get home - if I’m not exhausted.

Weigh-in for today: 232.

It was also Running Monday at the Y. I managed 1/4 mile non-stop, and about 1-1/3 miles out of 2 miles total on the track.

Nope. It’s what they tell paid members.

Yay YOU! Good job!

I’m joining in too! I’ve been away from this board for far too long…

Anyway, I’ve beein doing WW online since September '05. I started off doing their Flex (points) program, and now I’m doing their Core program, which I’ve been doing well on.

Weight:
172/149.5/135

Okay, it’s official. These jeans are no longer staying up. Time to start wearing that other pair I found. Down 24 pounds this morning. Seven more pounds, and I’ll no longer exceed the weight limit for an R-22 seat*.

I need to weigh in on proper scales. My scales ‘zero’ at 13 pounds, since that’s how far I’ve estimated they’re off. Still lost 24 pounds, but I’m not sure of my actual weight.)

As of tonight’s meeting, I’ve lost 23 pounds in 9 weeks! I’m going to the gym now 5 or 6 days per week, sleeping great, and feeling lighter. I’m going to continue with this plan as many weeks or months as I can keep losing, then I will move to their modified plan that will let me eat fruit and veggies, until I’m ready to go on maintenance.

Two more pounds and my BMI moves from the “obese” category to the “overweight” category!!

ah, okay

I’m down two more pounds. Went in for costume fittings today… costume mistress commented that I’d lost more weight and told me I’d better not lose any more and if I did, I’d have to alter my own damn dress.

Which I will gladly do.

down another for me.

This makes the grand total loss 93 lb. And I grew an inch between my high weight and now, so I’m -17 on BMI.

Dorothy, did you get my email?

I did, thank you
