I’ve been kicking myself the past few days over my slow loss. I just went back to look at my weight post-baby and realized that I’ve lost 44 pounds since March 30/05. So yeah, that is pretty good, but I’m still frustrated.
Okay, so I’m stupid. I got to thinking and went back and realized that rather than 6 months ago, that was 18 months ago. January 1/06 I was 204. No great shakes in 2006.
Oops, make that 216 right now. I guess the last two weeks in December I ate a bit more than I thought.
So, biked into work again today, ate healthy last night. Baby steps. Oh, and Aesiron, that’s wicked impressive.
1.5 gone overnight. Yay for water weight. 178 today.
The holidays were tough for me. When you have a dysfunctional family like mine, you get to celebrate Christmas five times. All that food and very little time to exercise. I know at least some of it is water weight this week, but I’m up five pounds since Christmas morning. I’m hoping at least three of those will be gone by the end of the week. I’m kicking up my workouts this week and trying to stay away from the food that’s constantly here at work. I really wish people would stop bringing us food. Yesterday we got a huge container of pistachios.
Last year I put back all the weight I lost the previous year, so I’m in for 2007.
Current weight: 88kg
Ideal goal: 75kg
Content with: under 80kg
I’m in. I am taking a Hacker’s Diet approach. I cut out fast food and beer and started counting calories. 1200 calories a day plus running for 30 minutes three times a week. I hope to up the running, but right now I feel every cigarette I ever smoked within the first 30 feet. I figure I’ll make it 30 feet yesterday, 35 feet tomorrow, and so on until I’m back at 2 or three miles (It’s been 7 years since I did any running that didn’t involve someone chasing me or me chasing a pizza delivery guy).
My motivation was seeing a picture of me on the board at work and I didn’t recognize myself. You know how anorexics see themselves as fatter than they are because their mind won’t believe it? I really didn’t know I was fat. I thought I could eat whatever I wanted and wasn’t gaining weight!!
1/2/07 - 185 lbs.
Goal: 125 + to fit into the jeans I was wearing 2 1/2 years ago when I found out I was pregnant (and weighed 125 lbs and was a size 4/6).
Timeline: as long as it takes.
I share your motivation as well…my stepbrother (53 y.o.) died last March of a heart attack/failure. He was similar in height and weight with me and he and I were pretty much the glue of our extended families.
I’m back in. I joined WW online back at the end of September, hung with it for about a month, then let everything go to hell in a handbasket. The good news – I faced the scales today with the expectation of seeing that I had gained back everything and then some, but I had not! Yay!
I’m hitting the grocery store tonight to load up on the good stuff.
I am in, again. I need to lose about 25-35 pounds.
Yikes.
My goal is two pounds a week between now and March.
Sigh.
See my previous thread about getting up early.
Tomorrow morning it’s on.
OK - I ate fish and steamed veggies for lunch and ran a mile. Ugh. I do feel great, though.
I’m in.
This morning I weighed in at 179.5 (Hi Ginger I’ve got your number )
My short term goal is to lose 10 lbs by March 1.
My long term goal is 140 lbs and/or a size 10.
I’ve recently increased my morning walking route by 1 mile so now I’m walking 3.5 miles most mornings and 2.5 miles when I’m feeling lazy. I’ve been trying to walk around the parking lot at work (1/4 mile) but haven’t managed to get off my lazy ass today to do that yet.
But now’s as a good a time as any, right? I think I’ll go take a walk.
I’m not doing any diet in particular just trying to eat more vegetables and less bread and snack food. I’m also going to stop drinking wine every day.
Beginning July 2004, I lost about 70 lbs. In February, I will celebrate two years of maintenance.
I had fabulous holidays, with tons of great food and I am up 4 lbs. It doesn’t sound like a lot, but I have crossed my “red line” of 130 lbs. I broke a lot of my usual rules over the holidays like “don’t eat out of the bread basket” and I am going to firmly re-commit to the lifestyle changes that help me keep the weight OFF.
I’m going to go to the store tonight and get ingredients for a big pot of white bean and kale soup. I’m going to be diligent about planning my meals in advance and keeping a close eye on calories and portion sizes until I’m back below 130 lbs.
Sadly, weight loss is never a “finished” - it’s a life long endeavor.

OK, I did it. I walked. First time around was the usual .25 miles but then I decided to walk a figure 8 between the two office buildings that make up the middle of this office complex where I work.
I’ve been wearing a pedometer since November (a corp. health incentive and contest in which I ranked 205th out of 1400+ participants).
Anyway, the figure 8 around and between the two buildings was .55 miles according to my pedometer. I think I can manage that a couple of times a day until it gets too hot.
I’m in, if I may.
Dec 28 – 142 lbs/size 12
Target – 120-ish or getting back into the size 8 jeans I wore last May, which means about 20 lbs needs to come off of my belly.
My plan is to chew all calories (no beer, no soda, no cream in my coffee, no booze, etc) and eliminate “easy food” (fast food, junk food & prepackaged processed food) at least 5 days per week, and paying attention to portions at all times.
I dragged Bibliocat to Bikram Yoga tonight and she’s still my friend.
I also started the Doper Dudes getting in shape thread that has a bit more of a weight-lifting theme in addition to weight loss, but I don’t care if people want to keep up with both threads. Me, I started 12/20 at 210 pounds and I’m down to 208.4 so far.
I’m looking to be about 185 by March 5 for an audition.
Is there anywhere to get a sample of the WW diet online somewhere?
There’s some basic info on the WW website. They have two different plans right now – the Core Plan (which I know nothing about. Maybe someone else can chime in on that one.) and the Flex Plan.
On the Flex Plan, you are assigned a certain number of points per day depending on your starting weight. Everything you eat has a point value based on calories, fat grams, and fiber. The thing I like about it is that you can figure out the point value of ANYTHING from the nutritional label.
It’s pretty simple, because you quickly memorize the point values of the stuff you eat frequently.
I know this didn’t answer your question about a sample of the diet, but I think you’ll have a hard time finding one. WW is extremely protective of their copyrighted material.
There isn’t a sample diet. You eat what you want, up to a certain amount of ‘points’ per day. They want you to drink 6 glasses of water and eat 5 servings of fruit and vegetables per day. Other than that, you’re pretty much on your own. A point is very roughly 50 calories, but if you search you can find the formula to figure them out online.
